10/10 Good stuff. Buy for Vietnam war stuff.
Alright so to make things straight. This helmet cover is 100% good quality. And the “mowhawk” effect it causes like other reviews say. Is true. BUT. That’s how ALL covers were from 1940’s to the early 1980’s. You’d have to soak the helmet cover and form it to the helmet. THIS IS HOW ALL HELMET COVERS WERE UNTIL THE early 80’s. And the myth where people say “this is for a WW2 helmet not a Vietnam era helmet” is bogus. You know why? Because the US used the “steel pot” m1 helmet til the early 80’s. So. Yeah. They don’t know what they’re talking about. The “steel pot” was nicknamed that way because marines used the m1 helmet first and when wet caused a shinning effect when the moonlight hit it. ALL m1 helmets are the same until early 80’s when the US switched to the PASGAT Kevlar helmet.Short: Wet the helmet cover. Form it over your M1 Helmet, let dry and go to town with art work on it if you want.

SUPER AWESOME!!
This helmet cover is amazing! I ordered it for my M1 helmet and it fits like a glove! I have been seeing other people giving this item bad rating and reviews due to the fact that the helmet cover doesn’t fit correctly. In order for the cover to fit correctly it is necessary to wet the helmet cover then apply it to your helmet, once applied to your helmet it’s important to smooth out the cover to your liking. Once smoothed out you can insert your helmet liner and you’re done! I hope this helped some of you having trouble with your cover fitting your helmet!

U.S. Mitchell Pattern Splinter Camouflage M1 Helmet Cover? Great Fit! Looks awesome!
Well, being a veteran of the US Army and a lifelong military-gear geek, I absolutely love it!When I first got to my unit in 1983, some of the older guys that had been there a while still had the Mitchell pattern covers and brown dominate ERDL Camouflage uniforms along with their new Woodland BDU Uniforms. I came to the unit with a full issue of gear in Woodland (except for my two M-65 field jackets which were issued in OD, which I was not happy about at the time, but they turn out to be more coveted now) but I did get issued one set of ERDL's.The unit was still in love with the ERDL pattern so they managed to find me a set so that I could fit it, I guess. Unfortunately, the Mitchell covers were a rare thing by then and I was stuck with the Woodland cover. I was alway jealous but what can you do. I got out of the Army before the unit got K-pots. I'm still an M1 helmet kind of guy.Anyway, I set the helmet cover up with the Green side showing, but I like the brown side, too, so I'll probably buy a second cover, and perhaps, a second helmet, too. And, by the way, to get the proper look you'll need to soak the cover and stretch it onto the helmet and put the camouflage-band on (order a camouflage band). I wrapped my helmet-liner in a white trash can liner to protect it from moisture (the helmet liners are old at this point so take care of them) and then inserted liner into the helmet so that the cover can dry in place as it will be used. The M1 Helmet is ICONIC and beautiful to look at. This cover does it justice.

Perfect!
I. Love. It. I am collecting/making replicas of as many military helmets as I can and this one (Vietnam War) is by far my favorite. So much character! The colors are perfect. The patterns are accurate. The fit is just fine (of course, when it is BRAND NEW it looks funky... I washed it, dried it, sprayed it down with water, shaped it by hand, left it in the sun, sprayed it down, shaped it, left in sun again... you get the idea).Helpful Tip: the new/UCP/foliage green helmet bands resemble the original Vietnam era color... flip it upside down so that the fluorescent/glow-in-the-dark squares don't show and you've got yourself a passable Vietnam War replica helmet band.

Definitely worth it
Before I say anything. The pictures are after I did some weathering to my cover by putting it in hot water and bleaching it for 12 hours. After that I gave it a wash and put it on my helmet to strech it out. After that I took sandpaper and roughten the fabric to resemble a work out look. I wrote some graffiti but might of got carried away. For the stains, I took brown sugar and mixed it with water and put it in the microwave to make a carmal brown look and I stain the some parts of the helmet but mostly the front as that where it would get dirty the most by the brim. After that I left it out in the sun for 2 days. Overall the cover comes in brand new and a bit too colorful but that is good as it gives the person multiple ways to customize it. It does not have any dates or writing. Just a clear camo. It a great cover nonetheless.
