If you have. working dog or a very active dog that likes running through brambles, gorse... rocks .. then you'll be acutely aware of the damage to their undercarriage! Stab wounds, Cuts, rips tears pussy postules all the product of a active dog in the woodlands or commons. Since buying this lightweight harness my dog can be out for hours and not come back with a scratch to the underside. Unfortunately his legs still get battered! But he's 'alive' when he's out there and 'alive' when he comes back. Great product and allows him to breath too as not neoprene.

So my girl spaniel is perfect but my sraffy male isn't. His wiener gets trapped behind so I've had to cut out a section and stitch in a tough hem, that's ok. I've also cut out triangles in the area for his front armpits and replaced material with some elasticated webbing. Considering both dogs are crazy and dive bomb through hedges, fences and everything that grows thorns and spikes, these make for 90% less "battle damage" to their chests and bellies and with a few tweaks to make the fit better, they are superb. I think a few foam or plastic ribs would be even better. Perhaps that'll be my next sewing machine project? 2 weeks on: I worried the medium would be too large for my cocker but it's actually perfect and I haven't made any alterations. However the 3rd walk my sraffy started walking like John Wayne, he was rubbed raw and his armpits were bloody. Now I've spent an hour tweaking it and adjusting it but after a last try on have decided that it's not worth it. I'm gonna buy him the large. I cant see how the medium fits any dog over 12kg. So for one dog it's amazing and the other terrible. I think the larger one will be best for my staffy or I hope so. Now my spaniel has a spare and I'm about to cut up an old leather jacket and re-enforce the chest plate rubber which has been punctured and torn and probably only has a few hours left before it's useless. Im still a fan but be prepared for fitting and rubbing issues. 3 week updateFrom 5 stars to 1 star as previously said by others, Velcro straps are now useless and don't stick. Poppers needed.

After writing an initial review we have now had time to properly assess. Unfortunately the velcro isn't doing a good enough job and the protectors are coming off. The latch side of the velcro has gone fuzzy and isn't able to catch the hook bits of the velcro so that when the dogs are jumping and running through the bracken and Heather the dogs are dragging the protectors around hanging off. Shame because they seemed to be working well but not after several more sessions. Hadto sew poppers (press studs) onto 2 straps. Badly made. Wouldn't recommend.
