Pilates: Exercise Encyclopedia

The visualization and illustrations of the muscles for each exercise are priceless!
You'll immediately notice the color-coded system (abs, lower, stretches, etc.). I loved the "exercise benefits and transfer" boxes--they kept the guessing out. But, then, each exercise goes right into the muscles involved. It gets better; each exercise has noted the common mistakes. I found this book by chance, and it is more valuable than the $197 used anatomy book purchased as recommended by the course.

The best book to learn pilatewAs
As far as I am concerned this is the best book about pilâtes. The book itself is amazing, very well explained and illustrated but what makes even better are the videos and the master classes. Value money exceptional.

Great book... Easy to read and the videos are super helpful when it comes to perform the exercises correctly! The 10 masterclases at the end are easy to follow and the routines are quite complete...

Fabulous book - just wish it was much larger - say 8.5x11
This has fantastic information. It is setup clearly and has great intentions. The follow through by the editor/ publisher is very poor. It would be more reader friendly if it was a much larger paged book, since a lot of information is laid out on each page… in this smaller book format, the information is cramped and the pages seem busy instead of illuminating. Also the having the page numbers in unbolded white ink makes them difficult to see in the colors chosen. This book would be great spiral bound, unfortunately there is not enough white space near the spine to have it spiral bound. Again, it loses a lot in the cramping of the book with little white space at the spine to fit the printed page onto the small page size. As it is, I’ve basically broken the spine to get the book to lay flat to see the exercises fully… and I’ve just been skimming the book so far. I expect this to fall apart with use.The thoughtful template for each exercise is great, but loses it straight forwardness in the small page size. I also love the intent to have each exercise designed to be laid out on two pages, starting on the left page side of the book. Since many exercises run to three pages, this format is lost.I can see on page 106 the “mixed” (muscle areas) lose this paging format, so the first page is on the right and a reader must flip the page back and forth to get the full picture. It would have been helpful to have a blank page for 106, so the template of an exercise laid out across two pages started on page 107 was kept for the book. The book is pricey, but I would pay more for a proper book size, with more white space near the spine and correct formatting of exercises. There is no index, I happen to have a specific muscle I want to stretch, the satorius. It is in the thigh, so I knew to look through leg exercises, an index would make it easier to find them and keep track of all the exercises for that muscle listed in one place. So I’d rate the book as a 10 for the author’s information and thoughtful layout. I give the editor and publisher zero stars for execution of the book size, no white space near spine, the non-bolded white page numbers and no index. I would love to get a pdf and be able to print at the size I’d like and add the many blank pages needed for formatting. This would not solve the index issue. It is obvious the publisher is trying to cut corners… what a shame.

Fantástico!
Tenía muchas ganas de que saliera este libro y es justo lo que esperaba. Muy recomendable.
