It'll make an electrician out of you
This is an outstanding book. Of course it won't make you an electrician, but, if you study it and understand it, you'll be well-equipped to tackle almost anything you need to do around the home, shop or ranch.Particularly helpful for me was the extensive explanation of grounding, bonding, neutral, etc. I no longer wonder why neutral is bonded to ground at the service entrance but is insulated everywhere else. The book is exceptionally well-written. Not only is it thorough, the wording is plain and clear -- you're never left scratching your head about ambiguous/careless wording of some important point. My only compliant is about the cost. Wow! It's a lot for a single book for a home owner / hobbyist. I wish it cost less, but it doesn't, and I'd buy it again in a heartbeat if I didn't have it. It's absolutely worth it. It's expensive relative to other books, but it definitely packs in a huge amount of value.

Great book for a DIY person
I'm not through with the book yet but so far it is an easy read and in a logical order. I have a good understanding of how residential wiring works but this will take you to a new level. It explains the details of why electricians do what they do with the products they use. How components operate, how to size your conductor and more and more.I'm putting up a large metal building and I was looking for information on commercial wiring, this book covers it all. Running a sub panel, conduit, how the required AFCI breakers operate and why they are required and where.Highly recommended.

Fun easy read
Several years ago I ( DIY ) wanted to do some advanced electrical work at home and had enough sense to buy a Black and decker home wiring book . What I very quickly realised was how little knowledge I had about safety , wire guages , devices , grounding , panels etcetera . I was hooked I bought many more books my last was wiring a house for pros by pros by Rex Cauldwell ( I wish I could personally thank that man A great book) Practical Electrical Wiring is well written and easy to understand ... I'm too old to become an electrician I never knew I would love the trade ... Money well spent for this book highly recommended ...

Amazing book, wish it had more illustrations
Very good detail book that covers how to actually wire, not just code without instructions. Just reading code won't tell you how to perform the work or other best practices.

Good book
It is a good book but, I guess, due to its size it is missing a lot more. I have purchased a few others to get more.
