Great read!
My 9yr old 4th grader does not like to read. He reads as it’s required for school and nothing else. I chose this as he likes the idea of police dogs and he needed a few “realistic fiction” books. He loved it! Stayed up late a few nights as he begged me to let him read just one more chapter. Being that engaged in a book also helped him realize how to retain information and in turn, talk about the high level details in the story. Looking forward to the rest of the series.

More violent than I expected
I bought this to read to my clients, I work in mental health in a jail. I needed something light that avoided sensitive subjects so as not to trigger them. This had glowing reviews online from numerous parents and thought it would be a safe bet. This might be a SPOILER but I wish it had been in the reviews I read. This book is about a dog fighting ring and details a few dog fights. I had a hard time reading it as an adult and cannot imagine allowing a child to read it.
