Man, did I feel dumb when this arrived!
Man, did I feel dumb when this arrived! I already owned a flat pu-erh pick that I was having trouble using, so I went in search of something that might be easier for me to successfully use. I saw this one and I guess I just didn't zoom in on the photo to see what it really was, because I thought it was some genius idea of a wire-wrapped pick that you corkscrew into the tea to get the leaves to release! (Yeah, I know. Dumb, right?) Anyway, I was very surprised and embarrassed when I opened the box and saw that what I thought was a wire on the corkscrew was actually a decorative thread hanging from it. I think the thread gets in the way, and I don't really like that it's there, but I will say that I have had better success using this pick than the flat one I previously was using. Honestly, though, this just looks like a miniature ice pick to me, so if you already have an ice pick, you might try using it first before investing in one of these. I really don't see how there would be much, if any, difference.

I like the look of it
Inexpensive pick, but I like the look of it, and it seems to do the trick. I'm new to compressed teas, so I do wonder if I should have gotten a flat pick (like, a knife, or a letter opener shape), and if this pick causes excess breakage of the tea leaves, but, for my level of experimenting, and again, the excellent price point, I'm quite happy.

I'm sure I could use a fork or something sharp like a corkscrew
A friend gave me some packed tea from China and I was using a knife to shave off the leaves for my strainer. I didn't know the proper way was to pick it off. I'm sure I could use a fork or something sharp like a corkscrew, but this worked great and looks good.

This is a great tool!
This works wonderfully! So much better than a knife or a cleaver! I like the little cover for the point. Don't even think about it--If you have Pu-erh tea, get this tool. I have some very old Pu-erh cakes that were very difficult to break, and this made it easy!

Works
Cheap quality but does what you want.

Poor quality, even for the price.
Very cheaply made. The wooden handle was cut to make a grip, but for some reason the cut was made after the finish was applied, leaving a rough, splintery surface right where you hold it.Other than being apparently unfinished, it looks okay and seems like it won't immediately fall apart, at least.

Good tea pick!
It looks just as pictured, the pick is sturdy, it broke apart both tea disks and bricks with ease, very heavy duty.Excellent price for an excellent product too.
