Kalso Earth Shoe Ziggy

I have tried various Kalso Earth Shoes over the years. Some fit very well, especially the ones made decades ago that conformed to the foot very well. For a long time, it seemed that Kalso Earth Shoe had lost their way. They made "hip" designs, but rarely did they actually feel comfortable, especially when using hard, almost sculpted leather that actually hurt feet. The foot was supposed to conform to the shoe, instead of the other way around. Feeling somewhat burned by the shoe company in the more recent years, I hesitantly decided to give the Ziggy style a chance. I am glad that I did. This walking shoe IS actually comfortable; it uses a soft suede, and there is plenty of room for your toes. Because in the past the shoes were too small for the stated size, I ordered up a half size up from what I normally wear in other shoes, and I am glad that I did. I also removed the very thin foot bed and inserted one of about twice the thickness so that it was like an athletic foot bed. This does wonders for the heel, which takes the brunt of the foot fall in these shoes that are thinner at the heels. All in all, the shoe, with the minor adjustment in the foot bed, are very, very comfortable and fit my foot very well. Finally, Kalso Earth Shoe has returned to a functional, comfortable, easy-on-the -spine shoe. I think it is a very good shoe over all.

The Kalso Earth shoes helped me to recover fully in record time from hip replacement surgery. I was able to perform my full yoga routine, gardening and other routine chores within 6 weeks of the surgery. They help relieve stress on the lower back and knees and help me to keep my posture. At age 73 - I need all the help I can get.

I have worn Earth shoes for years but these fit totally different. If someone had a wide thick foot, these are for you, since my foot is not thick, I had to put another insole in them to keep them from rubbing the bottom of my ankle. These shoes are a bit heavier than Kelso normally sells and I guess I would have to say I would not rebuy the Ziggy. A bit of a let down.

I wanted shoes like the ones I had as a kid in the '70's. They are the same. Exactly as I wanted them to be. Now I need to order another pair in black. These are the best shoes for my back, as they keep my posture correct.

I tried to love these shoes. I really wanted to love these shoes, but to no avail. Very thin insole, by the time you reach the heel, the insole is paper thin. I have no idea why, but the shoes wanted to make my toes sit on top of each other even though there was ample room in the toe area. The shoes have a hard exterior, are inflexible on top, and made my metatarsal area hurt. I even ordered a second pair, thinking maybe the problem was with the first pair I ordered, but no, the design is intentional, how the shoe is made. Not a happy camper.

Really do help with my Morton's Neuroma in the ball of my foot. I like them very much and think they reduce the pain in the ball of my foot greatly. And, they are very well made.

Order half size larger. I am a nurse with low back issues and plantar faciitis. Been looking for a shoe to wear for years! Took a couple weeks or so to adjust to negative heel - your gait does change. But, to help with the major issues it has been worth it. Had to insert gel pad though. Been wearing them for 4 months so far....twice as long as I have worn others, including brand name top recommended shoes. Had a pair 15 years ago when I was a massage therapist and loved them then as well. For me, these shoes are perfect. When I wear these out, I will immediately buy another pair.

Shoe fits as expected, looks good, feels good, and appears to be of good quality. Time will tell as last Kalso Earth Shoe purchase was in the early 1970s when each shoe was constructed to each individual foot.
