Thor, a Norse God, created thunder by striking his great hammer Mjolnir. He protected the house of the Gods and humankind. This statue of Thor is from Dryad Designs and artist Paul Borda. The runes around the base are an invocation of Thor`s protection and read `Thor`s thunder strike and hallowed hold us with Mjolnir's might`. The scene on the back depicts a battle between Thor and Igor, the World Serpent. An ox head was used as bait, and the struggle became so intense that Thor`s feet crashed through the bottom of the boat and he used the seabed for support. It is a cold cast resin replica of the original, which took over 300 hours to complete. The statue stands 7 1/2 inches tall, is 2 5/8 inches wide, and is 3 1/8 inches deep. It is finished to give it the appearance of carved wood. The detail on the piece is incredible, from the knotwork on his armor to the carving on the throne.
