ReadyRamp review, repeat customer

This is my second ReadyRamp. First one was a "first-gen" so it came assembled and was made of slightly different components. I loved this ramp and should have kept it. (I sold the truck it was with, so sold the ramp... now have a Tundra again, so purchased a current gen ramp)Packaging is pretty poor. Both ends of the box were open. This needs to be better. Luckily none of the smaller hardware pieces fell out!Instructions are pretty poor. I had to go online to figure out how the straps were supposed to be constructed, this is also slightly different than previous gen. The sides come pre-assembled but not tightened, so be sure to go over every bolt/nut. Likely you'll have to loosen up a hinge joint to get the longer rung bolts through anyway. As others have said, don't try this without a drill and you'll need a torx bit. You are basically drilling a "self-tapping" screw into a raw aluminum hole in each side of each rung. If you screw this up and over-tighten a screw, you'll strip the rung and it'll be useless. So be very, very cautious with your torque!! I would prefer each rung be threaded and the assembly would be to lock-tite each bolt to a certain torque rather than self-tapping.I think as this price point, nearly $250 with shipping, the ramp should come assembled. All that said, I still love the product. Nothing else on the market is as functional. I hope this new design is as solid as the previous gen.

Strong and sturdy, but could be better and safer

Using this to load my KTM 200 XCW, which only weighs about 220 lbs. into my 2016 Ford F-150 and it works very well and seems to be very high quality. I load the dirt bike by myself and have pushed it up manually (with my truck parked at an angle to lower the tail gate height and decrease the angle) and ridden up the ramp when I'm parked on dirt or grass. I also have a sportbike that weighs about 470 lbs. and I haven't tested it out yet, but I'm sure it's strong enough to hold that as well. I'm knocking off one star for a few reasons:1. For the price, I would expect all the holes on the 19 rungs (cross members) to be threaded. Instead, you have to drill in 38 self-tapping screws. The holes are drilled straight so there's really no way to mess it up besides way over tightening, which would strip the aluminum, but still.2. The instructions are outdated and do not match the current product. Seem to be for the previous version, which required more assembly. Even the instructions online on their website are the same outdated ones.3. For safety, this should really come with a ratchet or cam buckle strap to secure the ramp to the trailer hitch or rear bumper during loading. Such a strap could be sourced from Asia for a few bucks and would show that the manufacturer takes safety into concern.

Great ramp. Does what it says

Received the Ready Ramp the other day. Came in a unbranded box.The railing of the ramp was already put together, a nice time saving bonus. All I had to do was (1) screw in the steps and (2) mount the truck attachments.1. Mounting the screws will require a drill with a hex attachment due to the fact that the screws are self tapping. I can’t imagine doing it by hand. Warning: You should start with the drill but hand tighten.2. I have a 2007 Toyota Tundra so I ordered the full size ramp. The mounting hardware was simple to install. There’s even indentation on the bracket itself to let you know the right side to mount – thank you for this. Many times I mount stuff backwards and have to correct myself. The instructions did not provide details on how the mounts works or function, I had to go online for that - [...] On their site, it under installation images. Contains no instruction details but like I said earlier, super easy to install.Used it for the first time yesterday. Loaded two bikes (R6 and Street Triple) with no issues. Ramp is very sturdy. The Ready Ramp is longer and made loading the bikes a bit easier than using my cheapo Trackside ramp from Cycle Gear (see pictures). In summary: putting together wasn’t that hard. Does what it advertises.

Great ramp

Works great. Mine came assembled other than the straps. Seems a little overpriced but is still about the same price as a standalone bed extender. When using as a bed extender, it stays on by counter tension of the straps and doesn't press firmly against the back of the truck as I would have expected. The small legs that go against the tailgate when loading prevent it from sitting flush when used as a bed extender. Straps feel kind of cheap but haven't had them Frey so far.

Amazingly sturdy ramp and extender

We have used this super-sturdy ramp to load my dirtbike and move four truckloads of boxes to our new house. The assembly takes a while with all the ladder-like cross members, and it's advisable to be careful threading the nuts onto the cross pieces as you don't want to cross-thread them. The instructions are limited in their simplicity but correct - and it helps to review the web-site.I used a hex-socket and it took a fair bit of arm energy tightening things down. A hex-key chucked into an electric hand-drill would have helped speed things up and reduce fatigue, but you don't want to go too fast or over-torque or cross-thread the pieces, so if you do that set the clutch on a low setting.End result is a very sturdy and strong ramp with good clip-in attachment points that can be cinched down tight like a tie-down.

Product is quite sturdy. Took a while to assemble all of the ...

Product is quite sturdy. Took a while to assemble all of the rungs, but many of the ramp parts were preassembled. I have a Dodge RAM 1500. When used as a bed divider (flip it over from its bed extender position), the side that has the hangers on the end of the ramp sides does not fit the space between the wheel wells and the raised tailgate. The side without the hangers fits OK. I don't know if this was a design flaw or if my Ram truck just has a shorter distance between wheel wells and tailgate than most other trucks. I just bend the ramp end in some (less than 90 degrees) to make it fit when the tailgate is up.
