Transforming Therapy: New Approach to Hypnotherapy (with free Audio CD) Hardcover – Audiobook, 1 Aug. 1989

This was recommended to us by our tutor. I have to say that this book has a refreshing approach, and, with the detailed scripts and notes makes it easier to follow the effects and patterns of a client session. CD is also amazing being more for your personal use than anything else but still incredible. If you are studying hypnotherapy then I would say this book is a must have.

A very good text on hypno-analysis, it mainly consists of transcriptions of live therapy demonstrations with Boyne's explanatory comments throughout. The last section contains very concise and to the point advice on specific interventions and general maxims for the therapist. Gestalt dialogue and sentence stemming are the natural development of hypnotic regression therapy and Boyne demonstrates perfectly how to combine these two approaches into a form of advanced hypnotic insight therapy, which he cleverly calls "transforming therapy" (i.e., "trance-forming therapy"!) The accompanying tape delivers an excellent programming script for self-hypnosis and, on the flip side, one for improving your performance as a hypnotherapist. As a certified hypnotist myself, this book gave me excellent insights and useful information.

Comme l'auteur jouit d'une bonne réputation en tant que thérapeute, ce livre est déceptif.Pour l'essentiel, il s'agit de retranscriptions de "séances".Mais la portée de l'exercice est loin d'être évidente.Gil BOYNE ne fait pas beaucoup d'effort de pédagogie pour mettre son travail en perspective.Et il ne semble pas réellement préoccupé par le "pourquoi" de ses propos, ni de son comportement, ni de ses succès.Bref, beaucoup d'auto-promotion et un livre daté comme un bien de consommation des années 1980.
