Provides security, and accessibility for my ageing mum
It takes a while to work out where to locate it,it must be higher than the door handle, but by reading other reviews, and noting their comments, the final position was decided without fuss.It can facilitate entry from outside, where ordinary security chains cannot, but with thought as to its position,it can be set on leaving from the outside, which is a game-changer.

Allows key opening from outside
This is a brilliant product for anyone living on their own.Once the door has been opened from the outside the chain can be released using the supplied key - ideal for the elderly.

Easy to use security
The delivery pack was broken and the product didn't come with installation instructions, (hence only 4 stars). However, fitting was intuitive. You have to use common sense. This is a serious deterrent, not burglar proofing. You only want to make housebreaking difficult enough that a burglar leaves your property alone, and this chain will go a long way towards achieving that. The wall or frame mounted unit has to be fixed well above the height of the door handle so that the loop just fits over the end of the handle without catching. It also has to be sited so that the door doesn't snag the unit when opening. Don't forget to take into account leaving enough room to operate the key when unlocking from outside; without providing too much room to allow the loop to be detached. Once you have these parameters sorted to your satisfaction fitting is easy.Personally, as I was fixing into a brick wall, I used the shorter of the supplied screws. By selecting an appropriate masonry bit I was able to ensure a tight fit of the supplied wall plugs and subsequently the screws went in very snugly. If I was going to attach to a wooden frame I would have used the longer of the supplied screws. I'm not convinced that using the long screws into brick would be more secure. I believe that the force needed to drag the screws sideways out of a brick wall would be just as likely to rip the handle off anyway, so there would be no benefit in using the longer screws on this occasion.Would I recommend this product? Yes I would. Be aware that you get what you pay for. This is a lot more expensive than a simple door chain, but it is a lot more secure. In my opinion the value of increased security provided by this product more than justifies the higher price.
