Woodfield Royal Pacific Shenzhen 5.5 Inch x 9.5 Inch Fireplace Ash Dump Door

My only complaint is that the pins that hold the door and base together needed to be reversed. If you look at my photos, you will see that in its original state the door would not sit flush to the brick. This was because the pins extend out from the sides. I removed them and flipped them, then bent the ends, so they no longer were outside the perimeter. Then it sits flush, as can be seen in the photos. This could be remedied by updating factory assembly instructions or conveying this to the assemblers in the factory.

I really like the mass of this cover, it looks like it will last forever. Because of the design (specifically the pockets in the frame that accommodate the rod ends that the cover rotates on) it took a little bit of careful work with a hammer and a small masonry chisel for it to fit, but that's to be expected. Only took five minutes to do for what looks like a lifetime of future service.

Its thick contruction makes it a bit more difficult to sweep ash from the surrounding fire place floor. In the future I might buy in that just covers the ash shoot, avoiding the doors entirely. Does the job though and seems like it might outlive me on construction.

This is an excellent cover. It popped right in and doesn't give the impression that it will fall down the chute (which is what happened to my old one). It's very heavy, the door swings open easily, and it closes completely. I'm extremely pleased.

Sturdy, took a little work to get it to fit into the opening, but that means it wasn't loose. Got to me in a reasonable time.

Came broken in box, but no visable damage on shipping box..
