Update to my original post: This is absolutely no good. It slides all over my carpet. Cannot keep it in one place. I bought the right mat for my carpet type. Just don't understand why it will not stay in place. Considering not recommending this to anyone.I bought this chair mat for my office and loved the fact that it shipped unrolled. Arrived in a flat box and the material is thick but when I put in on my carpet and then sat in my chair I found that the mat slips back and I have to constantly move it back in place. I was really looking forward to this mat as it was thick and sturdy. My chair did not sink and leave dips where the wheels are. The only issue is figuring out how I am going to keep the mat in place. So frustrating when you are trying to buy a nice chair mat.

I think I like it but it's too early to tell how it will last. I'm hoping the extra $ for poly-carbonate will pay off. My chair has rolled off the edge many times without any damage and I'm heavy.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________Update: This is my first negative review of an Amazon product among dozens of positive ones. I am somewhat shut-in so I take full advantage of Amazon's reviews in lieu of visiting a large number of stores. Now I see why I am usually asked for my opinion of products I have received only a week or two earlier. I am incapable of evaluating their durability so soon. This is just such a case. As I stated above, this chair mat was entirely satisfactory when new. It is used for its intended purpose on low pile carpet beneath my home office chair. The first crack appeared after about 4 months use. It was small, about 2" long. So I found a way to patch it. Since that time, cracks have appeared at an accelerating rate, such that now after about 9 months there are 13 cracks, the largest being 10". Obviously this is untenable and I will need to replace it.

I ordered two and the seller failed to deliver the second unit with zero communication. But as far as the one that did arrive, it was delivered flat. The mat itself is okay. All this stuff about being extra strong is mostly blather. It's of good quality but the corners lift about a 1/2" off the carpet from the edge under my 175lb weight (I have it installed on a short-pile carpet). These are cut from a much larger sheet and the cut edge isn't knocked down and is very sharp - I cut my foot on it. So good, but not great.

First of all the shipping integrity: Shipped flat but the flimsy cardboard "box" was torn badly, exposing part of the chair mat to scuffing. A small section of one edge also dented (not enough to cause a problem). The mat was dusty and needed washing because of the torn cardboard box. Secondly, during the manufacturing process a very sharp raised lip is created in many places on the top edge of the mat. I remedied this with a simple swipe of a shallow jack plane but not everyone is prepared to do that. The mat otherwise seems thick and sturdy and holds well in place on medium pile carpet. Despite the packaging and needed repairs this mat appears to be of reasonable value compared to what I can buy from local office stores.

I really like this mat! I've used this mat every day for the last 5 months and it is doing great! I was concerned about its durability, since I weigh 300 pounds, but after 5 months, no sign of any cracks or other deterioration. The little spikes on the bottom have kept it exactly where we put it 5 months ago. The textured surface of the mat keeps my chair from rolling around too easily as I work.

It is thick, stiff, and looks sturdy. No strong smell. Good packaging - it was delivered flat inside carton. Unlike others, delivered as tube.

We have at least 1/2" carpet and the matt does walk. We plan to put duble sided tape around the bottom like someone else suggested. The matt is perfect in color(or lack of) I would like about 6" longer but I think a very nice, sturdy matt.

This mat is very sturdy. It is a flat sheet that stays flat. Chair wheels do NOT make any dents in it, which seems to be a problem with many competing products. It also is pretty transparent.I use this in my home office, where I sit down and stand up at least three or four times each day. After a month and a half, I had to reposition it, as it had "walked" on my very-low pile carpet. Woo-hoo - a very minor inconvenience.I'm very happy with this mat. After reading the horror stories in reviews of competing products, I'd say this is the one you should get.
