Until I discovered David McManus Kenny Wright was my favorite writer of erotica
Until I discovered David McManus Kenny Wright was my favorite writer of erotica. It is extremely rare for me to read a book in one sitting, but I couldn’t put Reluctant Cuckold down. When I finished it I immediately downloaded Cuck Storm Horizon and read that in one sitting too.I’m a relatively new fan of erotica. It seems to me there are two distinct approaches for this genre for both writers and readers. One approach emphasizes sex. The story line generally seems superfluous to the sex and is there only to offer some general context and reason for the sex to occur. This approach often offers page after page of sex with liberal use of sexually explicit words. The other approach, and the one I prefer, puts the emphasis on the story. The sex is a part of the story. This approach requires significant character development and the ability to tell an interesting if not compelling story. David McManus has the skill to pull that off.The story line serves as foreplay for the characters eventual sexual encounters. The story creates sexual tension and heightens the sexual expectations for the anticipated sex that will involve the main characters. In these books McManus pulls this off perfectly.Events happen, Ashley, David’s wife, is rumored to have has sex in the bathroom with a co-worker, but McManus gives little information about the event. Instead he leaves obvious questions unanswered and proceeds with the story leaving the reader hanging. As the story develops McManus drops hints and offers up more unanswered questions. This builds tension and peaks the interest of the reader. What really happened in that bathroom? The reader will have to wait many chapters into the second book to find the answer and by that time the reader in on edge wondering if the questions will ever be answered. One of the main characters is David, Ashley’s husband. McManus begins by presenting him as a sympathetic character, the apparent betrayed innocent spouse who deeply loves his wife and is caught completely off guard by the rumors of his wife’s unfaithfulness. Events unfold and more information is supplied by McManus and David’s life is changed forever. The author artfully changes the perception of David from being an innocent betrayed spouse into a weak and pitifully sad shell of a man who becomes tortured by his weakness and tendency to be submissive. That makes him vulnerable to being dominated by stronger males. The author reveals that Ashley is also a submissive and easily manipulated by dominate personalities in her life. It becomes apparent that these two submissive spouses are defenseless pawns in the hands of dominate people that become part of their lives. .The author leads the reader down a path that includes hints of things to come and offers numerous unanswered questions that will eventually be dealt with. The author builds the tension and anticipation of actual sex taking place, but the sex does not materialize until many chapters later. He skillfully ends each book with unfulfilled questions and hints of things to come. I am anxiously waiting for the sequel to Cuck Storm Horizon and the continuing events in the lives of David, Ashley, Mike, and the author hints Joe will reappear in the story and implies he will fulfill his threat to seduce Ashley.Kenny Wrights book Watch Me has been my favorite but McManus has supplanted it with these two books. If cuckold erotica stories interest you then these two books are a must read unless you are only interested in sex and lots of it, in that case you will likely be disappointed.

Our of the mouths of Babes
Dissected, rejected, compartmentalized, and reassembled; the confidently worded intensions of an Alpha male, Mike, revealed to a husband his latent role as a cuckold. Of course he didn't like it despite the physical confirmation his bodily reactions made. It appeared that he loved it. What did he love. In a nut shell, he loved the peace and quiet of his inadequacies and insecurities taking a break from center stage. Cuck Dave, found his cheap seats far from the sensuous activities of his wife and pretend friend Mike. Alone the silent fear of abandonment drove him insane while a closer analysis and interpretation over interim beers with his wife's lover, cast a new shadow on Dave's new role as a cuckold. Both Dave's wife Ashley and her loving Bull Mike took what they wanted but needed the incentive to come from words out of the husband's mouth. Would he say: "I want to watch you coupling like lovers", to his wife or Mike? McManus is spot on with this concluding sequel to "the reluctant cuckold", yet I know this is not over. Perhaps because I was recently cuckolded myself and the 'quest for that fire' is unending. Both books were important to this self awareness journey into submissive, emasculated humiliation because on the other side. Honesty, truth, and trust are the beginning of true communication. It's so simple its hard to see. It's a marriage of listening to words too crippling to speak, while finding love right in front of you, because it never left. That humble truth is freedom.

Depends on your expectations
There are certain authors I read based on the quality of writing rather than the heat of erotic content. McManus is one. This story lacks some key components I need to really enjoy it. And yet... After the first novel I had to read the second. There are some fairly hot scenes in both books, particularly Ashley's "narrative" at the end of this one, but there's a lot of grinding mental tedium and torment in between. Dave Martens, put simply, is a pushover. Ashley is a self-centered witch. And Mike is a manipulative, greasy bastard. In spite of all this it just works. You can't put it down. While certainly arousing in some places, this novel succeeds mostly on the quality of McManus' writing and the "train wreck" quality of their lives: you can't look, and you can't look away.Looking forward to book 3.

An intense, darker #2
This is an intense work from the author of "Reluctant Cuckold," and this story picks up where the previous novel left off. Its time frame is more compact--everything happens over the course of 5 days. Much of the "action" is internal; as in the previous novel, Dave's imagination provides many of the erotic images--although the events in Dave & Ashley's apartment on the final night are very "real" and very erotic. McManus has rendered Dave's conflict in almost excruciating detail and clarity; Dave yearns to be the man who can reclaim his wife, but his good intentions always wind up muddled in his inability to overcome or admit to his needs, desires, shortcomings, actions, etc. Mike's characterization becomes more clearly "alpha" in this chapter of the story--he nakedly challenges and teases Dave while also working to indoctrinate Dave into a complacency with the reality of being a cuckold. Ashley is more clearly established in this sequel, too--although her viewpoint is handicapped by Dave's inability to speak plainly to her and Mike's biased representations of Dave's desires. McManus plants and develops future plot points for what is promising to be more than a trilogy of books. It's intensity makes "Horizon" a darker read than "Reluctant," and it suffers from the challenge faced by all in-between books in a series: that of finding a satisfying conclusion to a story that isn't yet concluded. But "Horizon" is a satisfying read, although I'd be happier if volume 3 were already finished.

Hot cuckold story!
Loved the book, could have been longer and more in depth. But as a cuckold it was really a more realistic story line!

relegating poor Dave to the couch while Mike enjoys the delights ...
Warning this review does contain spoilers, but I have tried to make the part mentioned to specific. This is second book in the series telling the story of David Martens decent in to full scale cuckoldry and should be read after the first, “Reluctant Cuckold”.Dave continues to come to terms with his wife’s infidelity, while his wife appears very relaxed about her coupling with a junior sales guy at a party and is now, openly flaunting her continued cuckolding of her husband with his so called “old friend” Mike, relegating poor Dave to the couch while Mike enjoys the delights of Ashley’s wonderfully well upholstered body in the marital bedroom. At work and in the boardroom David Martens is the man, liked and respected by his colleagues and superiors, his career continues to power onwards and upwards. But at home and in the bedroom it is a completely different story, his nervousness around his wife is obvious and he is no more, the confident guy he once was around her, as he is caught up in a seemingly never ending spiral towards complete cuckoldry. To Dave it is a love/hate situation as he struggles to come to terms with just how much the situation turns him on, continually masturbating while listening to Ashley and Mike having sex in his bedroom or imagining other scenes in his head. He cannot resist listening to Mike and Ashley, he is unable to stop himself, drawn to the sounds of their lovemaking like a moth to light, hearing his wife shout through the door what she was doing with Mike, and telling Dave that she was cuckolding him, arouse him tremendously as he listens outside the bedroom door. But once he has reached orgasm he hates himself for getting turned on and for allowing the situation to develop beyond his control. Outwardly to everyone Ashley seems such a warm and friendly person, but I do worry about her apparent lack of compassion for her husband, while the taunting, teasing and controlling maybe a turn on for her and indeed for her husband she must be careful not to break him completely.I love the way David McManus weaves his story, adding characters, events and situations along the way, you are never quite sure which, may or may not become significant but it makes the lead characters of Mike and Ashley more interesting and believable. Rynn and Chang seem fun people, while Dave’s brother Sean and his friend Badger are more alpha male, as is Jay who is someone who Dave thinks should best be avoided, they all may crop up again. The part where Dave goes to San Francisco to deliver an important presentation while leaving Ashley back home in New York with Mike was possibly a bit long winded and a little too long, as was the family cookout at his parents house that is, until the altercation with Jay brought some tension back to the story, but I guess it was all necessary to establish that while Dave may have a loving family and be successful in his career, he is not so successful in keeping his wife sexually satisfied.Alone on the couch with his wife laying in the arms of her well endowed lover, seeming sexually satisfied and commentated, Dave is left with his own thoughts, he resolves to try and engineer some alone time with his wife to repair their floundering marriage. He goes through his options and works out methods of deal with setbacks and opposition to his ideas, just the way any successful corporate manager would, will he be successful? Or will he make to the sounds of his wife’s pleasure wake him and weaken his resolve? Only David McManus knows for sure.I cannot praise this book along with the first book in the series, “Reluctant Cuckold more highly or recommend it more firmly, it really is a must read, it really hooked me in and even had me laying in my bed wide awake worrying about Dave’s state of mind and wondering where the story will go next.

A Masterpiece of it's Kind.
Unfortunately there are few wriiters of real quality on this subject, but in the case of David McManus we have someone who quite brilliantly creates truly believable characters and realistic situations. I have waited a long time for this book and to get the best from the continuing story I first of all read 'Reluctant Cuckold' again. I would recommend that others do the same.Surprisingly, although 'Cuck Storm Alert' is a book similar in length to 'Reluctant Cuckold', it condenses all the action into just 5 days; - compared with its predecessor's 7 weeks. The action leads on directly, with a troubled and befuddled Dave continuing his descent into full cuckold status. By the end of this book there is still a long way to go and much to be experienced. This appears to be confirmed by the characters we already know and of several we meet for the first time.Beautiful Ashley, asserting more authority over Dave, reveals in full detail the night of the Jim Murta/party incident but her other previous sexual escapades, although acknowledged, are not yet told to us.Mike continues emphatically with his control of both Dave and Ashley. A serious serial cuckolding predator, how long before they both realise this and when will he tire and start looking for new conquests? We can also speculate on his successors.Jay makes a notable reappearance and must certainly be involved in future developments.Brother Sean is back and several references are made about his interest in Ashley.Dave's close friend Ryan and his Taiwanese partner make a very significant entry into the story and surely there must be exciting future participation planned. Many references to Tamara, who was of course responsible for the start of the whole saga. We clearly have a lot to learn about her and the mutual attraction she and Ashley have for each other.Another poker playing pal Alan is briefly introduced. He and his wife are moving into the neighbourhood, their relevance yet to be determined. Not least, we meet a young NY model, a new close neighbour living on the same floor. She has already invited Dave and Ashley to her forthcoming house-warming party. All in all there is considerable evidence to show that David Mc Manus has much more to tell of this fascinating story.I only have one quibble. I've been waiting a long time for details of the 'Submissive' and 'Sluts' T-shirt party which Ashley and Tamara attended when Dave was in Las Vegas (and Ashley 'lost' her 'phone). Not a word!David McManus has a remarkable talent. This is an excellent sequel to 'Reluctant Cuckold' and well worth waiting for. The next part of the story can't come soon enough.

Really gets inside the mind of a cuckold.
A very well written story that really gets inside the mind of a reluctant cuckold. In this second part the author answers a lot of my questions from the first part, as we do finally get to understand some of the wife's perspective on what's happened. Dave, the cuckold husband, is still just as messed up mentally as he struggles with the upheavals in his life, he's still fantasizing and over analyzing everything, his self-confidence is shot to pieces by what his wife is doing to him. We're never quite sure if it's what she thinks he wants, or just what she wants. It's definitely what Mike the Bull wants, but just maybe he might actually help them as a couple in the long run, as he cuckolds Dave in his marital bed.Another very engaging episode in the making of Dave the cuckold. The writing is marvelous and the characters so well drawn that I found myself wanting to influence events, willing Dave to either 'grow a pair' and say that it isn't 'okay', or at least tell his wife what he really feels instead of second guessing her and letting everybody push him around.David McManus' writing is entrancing, thought provoking and at times irritating, but I was always avidly turning the pages desperate to see how it all unfolds. It was very close to five stars, but I've become extremely miserly with those recently, however I highly recommend this book and eagerly look forward to the next book in the series. .

A very good story but !!!!
This was a very good story but his wife totally disrespected him, from start to finish , she never really apologised for her infidelity with her co worker , she just said it happened and that was it , he just accepted it , hopefully this story will progress with a little bit more respect for her husband , we will see, ut still a good story .
