Does the sale of this product include battery, charger and all necessary parts for first time use?

Hi. Indeed it comes two with O-rings (O shaped rubber seals), grase for better sealing, cilindrical battery (very large, green light=charged, red light=charging), floor charger (you have to detach the battery by pulling it up while standing one foot on the side of charger), an air pump for better sealing/detaching the battery compartment (it gets pretty tight), water detector in battery compartment if it gets flooded, metal weights for adjusting buoyancy, etc. It's lots of fun to use and this model even has 3 speeds and a safety lock. If you plan to use it frecuently or by two or more pleople in a single day, plan buying a second battery because of charging times of several hours if battery gets depleted. My recomendation: Go for it!.

I'm considering using it for shallow water reef work. Is flooding a problem at shallow depths?

The Explorer X has been tested for waterproof integrity to a depth of 160 ft. At 160 feet there is almost 5 atmospheres of pressure pushing on the unit. At 6 ft depth the pressure is comparatively minuscule (about one tenth of one atmosphere). The primary method of keeping water out of an underwater device is maintaining the seals by keeping them clean, lubricating the outside of the seals with a thin coat of marine silicone get(this is included with the Explorer X) and replacing the seals as needed(probably yearly).

I just purchased this a few days ago and was wondering if anyone has looked with success for an extra battery?

You can find an extra battery at Seascooter Express. The Explorer X rechargeable battery will give long life if the battery is cycled frequently(this is true for any similar type rechargeable battery). What kills the battery is prolonged storage(e.g. over the winter). If a battery sits around without being used for longer than 90 days it begins to degrade rapidly which is how most battery issues occur. To prevent this degradation we recommend fully charging battery at least once every 90 days when not being used. Also, it's a good idea to lay the battery on it's side(PC Board facing up) when storing.
