Murder doesn't beat around the bush, or at least that's the conclusion florist Abby Knight has come to. The former lawyer traded in her high-pressure job for a more serine life; but while she may have been done with homicide, it wasn't done with her. Now, in a new town, she finds herself being pulled into new cases which hit way too close to home. Her only option is to nip these murders in the bud, or the next funeral arrangement might be her own. The Flower Shop Mystery Complete Movie Collection contains all three original movies from the popular Hallmark Movies & Mysteries series.

Average
The novels’ author, Kate Collins, gave a talk at my local library. She was a good speaker and favorably commented on these movies. They were economically priced, so I gave them a try. Overall, these movies are low budget with average acting. They are watchable, but that’s about it. Abby is 20 to 30 years older than in the books, but often she doesn’t act more mature. Actions that are understandable for a 20+ year old become just reckless or silly for a 40+ year old. I don’t understand why the author was happy. The characters have been drastically changed. Abby’s family has been reduced to just her father, and she’s left with only one of her friends. Don’t buy if you are expecting a faithful production of a book you enjoyed.

More serious Hallmark mystery
This is a serious sided Hallmark Mystery, compared to the happier mysteries, if there can be such a thing. It can be a refreshing change. An ex-lawyer with an attitude, Brooke Shields, takes on a new business as a florist. One can understand the serious role she plays when you realize most lawyers are not happy characters. A florist might be happy, but she hasn't left the past completely behind her yet. I like that the endings are not always predictable and that she generally doesn't do stupid things that make me cringe. If you happen to get a defective movie that won't play, take a chance and exchange it. Sometimes those things happen and I got a perfectly good playable movie in exchange.

Maybe I expected too much
Beau Bridges was the best part of this movie, and he played a supporting role. I am a big Brennan Elliott fan, and I like Brooke Shields, so I thought I would enjoy this 3 movie DVD, but I was wrong. It was like the actors were struggling to connect with each other and the plots. Elliott and Shields had absolutely no onscreen chemistry in all 3 movies. Elliott played his detective character well. Shield's character had great potential that just fell short. Some of this has to land on the Director's shoulders.

Charming
Brooke Shields is charming in this three movie collection. The stories are fun to watch and really enjoy the fact that anyone of any age can watch this, without being bombarded by sexual content and agenda messages. This is just a fun solving of a murder mysteries.
