In two weeks...
In two weeks, I have found the boots to be of excellent quality. As this is still early in a boot's life, I must reframe from giving more than four stars. As a side note, I researched this boot, figured my shoe size (10EE), and then followed the maker's suggestions for fit. Since they do not make a EE, and all of their boots 'fit big' I ordered their standard 10D. The fit is slightly long at the toe, and little tight at the sides. As expected.A second pair of Laces was a pleasant surprise.Light, but not breezy. I find the boots warm initially, but haven't had any sweat retention problems (Location: Florida). It is still early in the life of this boot, hopefully; however I can state without confliction that they are some of the best I've ever owned.

Promising but not for me
I have been searching for the perfect police patrol boot and for me, this is not it. I waited about 6 months before reviewing this boot. Initially the boot is very comfortable and is well constructed. After 6 months of use Ina police patrol outdoor environment, the missile of the boot seems to have broken down. I now can't stand in these boots for more than about 10 minutes without my feet hurting. I replaced the factory insoles with Superfeet insoles as soon as I started wearing the boots, but this was not the issue. I tried several other insoles to no avail. The midsole just feels like it is worn out. It is a shame because the body of the boot is still in great shape and so is the tread. Moving on to another brand from here...

Altai boots, 2.5 years later
I ordered these boots for work over 2 years ago and wanted to share my experience with anyone who may be interested in buying a pair for themselves. I can sum it all up in two words: worth it. In 2.5 years' time, these boots have held up incredibly well. First off, I have inspected both boots and have have yet to find a single tear or even stitching that has come loose from both the interior and exterior-including the leather toes. A couple of the armor plates have fallen off the sides where the boots naturally fold over from walking, but otherwise they have held together extremely well.It was definitely a good idea going with Vibram soles, because the treads are still pretty deep as well. The laces have worn a little bit where the kinks are being tied and untied every day, but they still hold exponentially better than regular laces-I can't think of one time that I had to retie my boots during a shift. The leather has some wear marks from banging them around, but a good polish every now and then protects it and makes it look good as new with no problem.I've never had a leak with these boots either, having been in pretty deep water and snow. Speaking of snow, these boots work though the humid heat of summer and cold dry winter, although I will say these are not the warmest boots out there. It's absolutely not that they are paper thin and freezing, but I did find myself throwing an extra pair of socks on every now and then-but that's just personal preference. They are breathable in the summer on the flip side-so no moist stinky feet, which makes it worth it to me.Finally, the level of weight compared to the durability of these things though is what really amazes me. I've ran, jumped, climbed, and kicked in these things just as easily as if they were my normal every day running shoes with no problem. And all he while, they have endured countless bumps, scratches, scuffs, and general beatings-but you'd never know it by looking at them. All things considered, these boots have held up on their claims. This is a very light, extremely durable, waterproof, all weather/all terrain, good looking pair of boots that you definitely want to have in your gearbox. They've supported me and kept me protected through wet marsh to dirt roads and construction sites, through dirty sticky apartment complexes to sleek mall tile. All things eventually fall apart, but I don't see these babies doing so any time soon. However when they finally do, you can bet I'll be getting myself another pair-no doubt about it.

We have a winner!!
Awesome boots. I am somewhat obsessed with high tactical boots. The main problem I usually have with most brands is that they tend to make the toe-box too high and I hate it when I can't feel a snug touch both above and below the toes. Especially if riding a motorcycle - I want to have a feel of the shift lever both ways, without guessing if I touch it or not. I tried Bates that looked awesome, but just don't wrap snugly all the way as I wished. I always look for a snug boot to give me the feel of control and traction, yet not to squeeze my toes from the sides. I have rather wide feet, and many brands, from whatever reason, like to do the pointy front which doesn't help (nigher comfort not style IMO). It is always a bet ordering online and these are hard to find in stores to measure, or to get the feel for the sole flexibility (another issue I find inconsistent across brands - what's the deal with concrete-hard soles??). But these - wow. Spot on perfect! Love it. Followed the manufacturer recommandation to go 1/2 size down - and it fits perfect. I saw they got other versions with the "superfabric" upper (that seems to look better in the images) but I decided to go first with the leather version assuming it will break in better to fit my wider toes. Right out of the box it felt as I hoped it would, snug yet not squeezing, good flexibility and good traction. I also didn't expect any reinforcement in the toes area as I expected a "soft toe" boot, but surprisingly I noticed there is some tougher feel to the leather upper in the front, yet it blends smoothly without causing it to rub where the reinforcement ends (again - a common issue I typically find in many brands). Very happy with these.

Liked it so much I ordered a second pair
I need a lace-up boot for work every day, but I have an A-width foot, which is very hard to fit. I've been buying boots from the one company that makes them in narrow; it's a great product but it's heavy. ALTAI had a booth at a conference but they only sell 'D' width. The rep suggested that I try it anyway because the design, he said, works well for narrow feet. To my amazement, it fit great. And these things are so LIGHT; the difference is amazing. I bought a second pair so I can rotate them. A co-worker asked about the Vibram sole, because they wore down quickly on another company's boot. ALTAI told me that they use a more durable Vibram that will last longer. I just wish they made an insulated boot for the winter.

Didn't work for me
One shoe felt higher than the other. I did not find them comfortable at all. I returned them after a weeks use.
