Q: Does this come with a metal stand that the butane jet sits on? I've seen it in other sterno youtube videos.

I believe what you are asking is does it come with a stand....one where whatever you want to heat up would sit on...there is a stainless steal "stand" where the burner fits into and whatever you want to heat sits on top....hope that helps..

Q: Do you think this would stay burning in the wind?

probably not... I've only run this from med-low setting for my coffee syphon maker and a slight wind would make the flames disperse a bit. But my guess, the flame would still go out if wind hits it.
