previous reviewer is obviously ignorant of the fact that there is a difference between buying a chess set (the pieces) and a chess board. in high end sets, they are normally sold separately. house of staunton makes and sells both beautiful sets and boards. sometimes in combination. this set comes with a vinyl board which is intended for practical tournament and travel use. not for display in your new home. know what you are buying. and know how to play chess before you buy a house of stauton set. dollar for dollar, you cannot buy a better or more beautiful chess set.

I am very pleased with this purchase. My first real chess set and they are beautiful. Nice weight to them, flawless, your friends will be jealous.
