Why didn't someone invent this one before?
I have a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee Larado, which as it become older with harder to maintain(especially for me who understand computer more than vehicles). On several occassions after reading through countless numbers of posting at various Jeep owner group regarding mechanically malfunctions and various resolutions that worked or did not. I decided to replace the ECU or the fuel pump since there core issue was a loss in power in the engine while driving on the road(an extremely dangerous situation for me, my family and everyone on the road as well). The choice I made was the ECU, which worked to my satisfaction for 5 months(the warmer months of the year). Once it started snowing here in NY like crazy it I essential had no use for the Jeep since there was no parking spaces anywhere without digging out or in one. Winter now slowly fading away it was time to get back on the road. I could not get the engine started since I hadn't used it since Thankgiving. I defrosted the gasline with dry gas, replaced the battery, yet these were not the answers. Back to the drawing board. I decide this time to order the fuel pump that I had rejected early only find out after ordering it was availble via my online parts distributor. So what to do next? I rermembered seeing a CarMD commercial one morning and decided before I do anything else I'd get one and see if it analyse my Jeeps condition more accurately. I road tested the unit and find it was the ignition switch that was causing the problem the whole time. I have since replaced it and been focusing on make the Jeep even more roadworthy as time goes on. I recommend CarMD to anyone regardless of how new or old your vehicle maybe, because I'm in powered now and understand my Jeep much better than before.

Saved me money
When I first saw this on TV I was skeptical...I do not really believe in infomercials or what they are selling. When my 2001 volkswagon started having issues and I suspected the dealership where I had it serviced was ripping me off so i would trade it in, I begrudgingly bought it out of frustration. Turns out they were trying to rip me off and this little gadget saved me some money.Pro's: Tells you likely and possible fixes and clearly breaks down price by parts and laborCon's: Need a computer handy to look up the codes, so keeping it in your car doesn't really make sense (unless you have a laptop with the software in your car too).Overall, I was really impressed and saved some serious cashola by purchasing it. It works on all 3 of my vehicles and even lets me know if there are any potential issues that are not engine light worthy, but still noteworthy so I can handle them before they become large issues.

Awesome way to read car codes
This is a very nifty device that when plugged into your car will read the codes. Once this is done you plug it in your computer and log in and the program will tell you the diagnostic codes, what they mean, and give your information and prices on the parts. I do think there is a 4 or 5 vehicle limit per year but that is plenty for me. When I was deciding which code reader to get I found that some would only read certain codes therefore you would have to get multiple readers. From what I understand of this device it will read all of the codes the only draw back is that it will not reset the codes for you. I am very pleased with this product.

next best thing to a godsend
I should have bought this diagnostic code reader a long time ago. I would recomend this to everyone, even if one does not know which end of a motorcar is what or have never lifted the hood to look at the engine. Let me give anybody who is interested a little bit of advice, knowledge is power,it does not matter if you are not going to repair the automobile yourself or not. What is important is that you are aware of the problem if any and can tell the repairman what is the trouble and more importantly carMD website will give you an estimate of about what the repair should cost you.

Car MD needs an MD
I received my CarMd in a timely manner. Plugged it into my car and my truck, loaded the software, plugged it into my laptop, and yes, it worked fine.I then removed the batteries and boxed it up and placed it on my shelf in my office. A month or so later my check engine light came on in my car. Well I thoughtno problem Ive got little trusty CarMd to tell me what the problem is. So I got it out put the batteries in, plugged it into the car and nothing. It does absolutely nothing. Bought new batteries and nothing. Worse part is that the Amazon seller Mf219 will not exchange it, let me return it or give me a refund.Something similar to this happened with EBay some time ago and I haven't purchased anything from them or through them since. Same is going to go with Amazon, no more online store front purchases for me, even if Amazon does give me a refund I have very little faith and trust in the people that sell through them.I bought it in the middle of September and around the first of November is when I tried it again, burned for 100 bucks, go figure, lesson learned.

CarMD is good so far not Great!
So far I've used the device once. It worked as advertised and provides a lot of great information on recalls etc for the vehicle. In using the device for a month I just cleared a yellow light to green from changing my air filter. The report from the device when synced with my pc did not mention the air filter as a possible issue. I thought I would possibly have anywhere from $100 - $300 worth of work to do. Not a lot but the air filter was the only issue.Good tool. Buyer beware it does not clear codes. Only reads them.

CarMD at a great price does exactly what I need.
The CarMD 2100 system provides me, the "home mechanic" a clear and understandable method to diagnose and plan maintenance and repairs. Cheaper than a shop-based on-board diagnostics system, it has allowed me to confront shops - the ones that tell me my check engine light is because of multiple P-codes, when it's only one. I feel empowered in estimating and negotiating my repairs at shops, and more confident about my assessments and planned repairs in my own garage.Great product, great price. Includes 4x garage spaces with the option to purchase more.
