Wonderful stories for kids.

I read this series as a child over and over. My children enjoyed the books as well. I just bought this set for my new grand daughter’s 10th birthday. Every time she sees me she tells me how much she loves reading her books.

I got these books years ago for our daughter and enjoyed them myself! Both she and I read and reread them numerous times. They're funny, yet without being "preachy" manage to teach great life lessons through the (often hilarious) true life experiences of Mabel. I got another set of them to have on hand for our grandkids. These are worth the money!

We laughed with our daughters as we read these books years ago. These are my all time favorite children's books. Besides being funny each gives a message without preaching (at all) such as being a show off can back fire. They are set in earlier times as the writer is telling the stories of her grandmothers childhood, which in itself is interesting. I now buy this book set as gifts.

Sweet, nostalgic stories with good, clean humor, and good lessons learned. Used to love hearing my grandma tell stories of life growing up, (her and her sister picked cotton to put each other through nursing school etc). and enjoy these- good reminder of the old days of hard work, depth of character, and contentment with the little things. A different world from today, and so good to hear. My kids (ages 6&7) also like them. Makes them laugh. Great stuff.

This set has been awesome! I love that the first three are when Mabel is young and the 4th she is a teen.These are the stories of Mabel O’Dell who grew up on a farm in Michigan in the late 1800s. She gets into a lot of funny mischief with her best friend, Sarah Jane. They have a Little House on the Prairie feel as far as setting and time period, but are very funny! I love how you can tell the characters are older in book 4 by their conversations and vocabulary and I just find that remarkable how arleta Richardson kept the dialogue so authentic. These are delightful books our family will read over and over again!

The box the books are in - looks like it has a sticker stating '$28 dollar savings' -- this isn't a sticker! its printed on the box, as part of it. Looks tacky when you give it as a present, felt like I was being a scrooge with it as a gift. Unboxed it and gave the books as is.Loses a star for that stupid box!

If you love Anne of Green Gables or Little House and wish there were books geared for younger children, this is your series. I pre-read them and found myself stifling laughter in the wee hours.

I loved these books as a child and want to sell them in my store. However when they came, beautifully boxed, right on the box that you are meant to store your books in there is a good size little notice that says $28 VALUE! $30 IN CANADA. Lovely. I need to mark up appropriately and sell in the $35 range. Why would they put this on their permanent packaging? Real cool when you give this as a gift to someone and price is printed right on the package in such a way as to be very noticeable.

Loved reading these stories with my daughter. They were heartwarming stories with a moral to each story. The stories were captivating, touching and wholesome. Also educational as you learn a great deal about life in the "olden days". We read all the books in the series!

Grandaughters birthday gift in a couple weeks - he will love them

I highly recommend this series. It's an easy reed and filled with humerous stories. A great selection to add to your child's library.
