They are the perfect size. I boil them in hot water and ...
I use these as tampons. They are the perfect size. I boil them in hot water and sanitize with a hydrogen peroxide soap. If you are interested in using sponges as tampons, PLEASE be careful and read the descriptions to make sure it's real sea sponge, and not a manmade version. The fake ones look very real, but you don't want to put that in your body.Anyway. I have a pretty heavy flow, and usually I will use 2 of these at once. After you clean them, rinse well with water, squeeze out any excess so it's not dripping, and then try to push them as far up as you can. On regular days, I can get away with just one. With regular tampons, you can't wear them on the days at the end of your period where you're spotting, and pantiliners are uncomfortable. No matter how little you're spotting, you can still use one of these. A cotton tampon in the "Light" size will dry you out if you're not bleeding enough. The sponges are already damp, so they will just absorb blood and not make you completely dry.One of the WORST feelings for females is pulling out a tampon too soon when it's still dry in some places. You won't have to worry about this with the sponges. You can probably use them for two months in a row for separate periods, but these are cheap so you can just use the same 1 or 2 for your whole period then throw them out. A pack of 12 could last you for 6 periods. Or even 12 periods! $11 for 6 months worth of periods is WAY cheaper than buying a $5 box of tampons each month. You will not regret switching to these. Here's the best part.... you can use these during sex! I've even had 2 in before, and my bf could barely feel them. They're soft, so it didn't scratch him. Depending on how heavy your flow is, you might not even make any mess at all! Yes, they will get shoved up pretty high from the movement, but nothing can physically get lost in your vagina. If you're comfortable with your body, it's easy to stick your fingers in and pull them out. You could even ask your partner to remove them. If you have trouble, sit on the floor in a squatting position and push like you're trying to have a bowel movement. The sponges should move down a bit. If not, just leave them in there and they'll come out later. You can leave sponges in MUCH longer than tampons. I've left them in all day, so just go to work or school or whatever, and they'll eventually come down for easier removal. It's like having a plug over your uterus. With tampons, your vagina itself will still have blood on it, which can leak onto your panties. With the sponge, it's close to your uterus, so your vaginal canal will be cleaner. I am very paranoid about leaks, and that drew me away from menstrual cups. With sea sponges, everything is absorbed, so if it were to slip, it wouldn't just be a cupful of blood leaking. I rarely ever experience leaks with these. Only on very heavy days or when I am physically active at work where I don't have a break to go rinse it. With menstrual cups, its harder to clean them in bathroom stalls. With the sponge, just pull it out, pour water on it until clean, squeeze it out and put it back in.You can use the same sponge for your whole period, but every day or 2 I will soak it in hydrogen peroxide for a minute, then rinse and put it back in. Hydrogen peroxide is safe for your vagina so don't worry. I've even douched with HP before. Leading me to another tip... if you have a bacterial infection, soak one of these in HP and leave it in your vagina over night. Wear a pad as well because the sponge will be soaking wet.

great for period intimacy and dying leather/applying paint
Like many other reviewers here, I bought these to use as sea sponge tampons. I think we've established that they're great for absorbing blood but lets get to the real nitty gritty: These make period sex so. easy.I'm a former legal escort, and in that line of work we had to be tidy, beautiful, and of course never menstrual goddesses. I'd just pop one of these suckers in before sex, and nobody would be the wiser: they are soft enough that they just kind of squish against the cervix during sex, and the person doing the penetrating won't notice. If you use them in this way and want to be super sneaky about it, follow insertion with a quick wipe with an unscented vaginal cloth like , and you'll be good to roll.I would always get them damp before inserting, for comfort, and sterilize them by rinsing them with rubbing alcohol then running them through the washing machine.I've also used these to apply dye to my leatherworking projects (of course, not the same ones for my vag...) and found that they make GREAT paint applicators, as they are so soft, smooth and absorbent they ensure a very even distribution of the dye.

These are more economical and appear to be a better quality sponge and perfect for removing makeup
I have bought something similar at Bed Bath and Beyond. I think it was a pack of 3 for 1.99. I went back and bought a larger sponge that was apparently made for the body - too rough for the face. These are more economical and appear to be a better quality sponge and perfect for removing makeup. I have only had for about a week but it appears to be a good quality sponge that will hold up for awhile. The previous brand I used tended to tear up and fall apart after a certain amount of time. These appear that they will last longer. I also tried the Konjac sponge and I prefer these. When you rinse these out you can see the dirt wash off and get a better feeling that it is clean than from the black konjac sponge. I will update if they mysteriously fall apart after a few uses. For the moment, I am very pleased.

Feminine Hygiene Product Alternative
I bought these in hopes of finding an alternate method of dealing with menstruation. For a few short months between my first child and my second, I used the Diva Cup and just as I was really getting the hang of it and starting to love it I got pregnant with my second child. Then during his birth, I had between 3rd and 4th degree tearing that never did heal quite right. A lot of things just won't stay in because of how I healed after the tearing. I have to use at least a liner if not a pad also when using traditional tampons and the Diva Cup is completely uncomfortable and slides part of the way out.I came across sea sponges as tampons and thought maybe this would be my miracle until I have corrective surgery done sometime in the distant future. I tried these since the name brand ones were kind of pricey for something that I might or might not like at all. For me, after 5 kids and being in my early 30s, these sponges were way too small. I used them in conjunction with Thinx period panties and thank goodness I did! I'm not giving up on sea sponges, I'm just going to have order larger ones and give those a try.I'm giving these 4 stars because they worked, they were a good quality and they were fine for me on my very lightest day. Most women using these as an alternative to tampons aren't going to have the physiological challenges that I do. That being said, if you have very heavy days, these aren't going to work for you unless you can rinse them out every hour.

The best !!
I use to buy these for 6$ each at shoppers drug mart and for over a year they’ve been sold out EVERYWHERE I’ve had no luck finding it. I was so happy to see I was able to find it here and for a better price I use to pay. They came and the product is the exact same as the one is use to get. Absolutely love these!

Perfect Sea Sponges
These are very similar to sponges I used to buy at Shopper’s Drug Mart (but *much* cheaper!) that have been out of stock for months.Well-worth the price. :)

Not as expected
I was expecting the smooth sea sponges that I used to be able to find at the pharmacy, which I have not been able to find in recent years. These sponges are not "silky" - they are more like loofah sponges. When used for applying makeup, they are quite rough against the skin. I suppose the roughness would help with exfoliation, but that's not the intended purpose.
