Sensory timer
Bought this for use with SPD and ASD clients. It has been perfect, durable and a great addition. The stages of lights help with the processing of time and offer a visual reminder. The sound is also not startling enough but still effective enough. It can easily become a reinforcer on its own if allowed to be played with. The price point and durability give it the edge over similar devices.

Changing from a postive review to negative.
UPDATE 9/11/15 I've only had this 2 months and I had to change the batteries, I thought well, maybe the last ones were bad. But no, this is a battery hog, once again the batteries are dead. I have other timers that go years without battery changes and so this is unacceptable. I'm bringing down my star rating to 2.While I love the look of this timer, and now that I have it figured out I really like it I can't give it a full 5 stars because the directions were ATROCIOUS. Set up on this was so difficult because the directions were flat out wrong on what buttons to push, so it took twice as long as it should have. Once you do have the time set on this and you have it all figured out, it is not so hard... but at first be prepared for a bit of frustration. The color indicators cannot be altered. At 10 minutes it's going to start flashing orange and at 1 minute it's going to start flashing red... you can't change those values. The timer ring is loud enough to hear from the next room but not ear splitting. Sounds like the beep-beep-beep pause beep-beep-beep of an alarm clock. Could you hear it from the basement? Maybe, it would depend on how large and sound proof your home is and what other noises are happening at the time. There is a built in clock on this when not used as a timer. This was the headache to get set up because the included directions were wrong as to the buttons to push to set it. But once you just start messing with the buttons you will figure it out. I've already forgotten how it went. I'll have to mess with it again when the two batteries die and need changing. But if I got it once, I can get it again.Batteries were included with this timer, two AA to be exact. Be sure to pull the little plastic tab so that they can activate. The inclusion of batteries was also a really nice bonus. The display is not terribly huge but is easily readable for me and my family if we go over to look at it. If you have poor eyesight you might consider a larger display or something with a back lit display. The color at the top can be seen from really far away so if you don't need an exact measure of how much time is left this may be all you need. We got this as a kids timer for a kid who cannot yet tell time.

I love but it broke very easy
I love but it broke very easy. A student try to turn it on when I was absent. But when it works was very good. I'll said just don't let it visible when you are not in your classroom.

simple to use
The red/yellow/green colors are nice and provide a visual reminder. It is easy to set. It has a modest and clean design to fit many decors. I bought this digital timer and the turn dial one at the same time, and found the kids responded better to the other one because they could see the arrow moving around the time markings so they could see time ticking away. (5-7yrs old are visual and learning the concept of time.) I primarily use it to keep my kids on task so they dilly-dally less--30 min computer time, 30 min dinner, 15 min breakfast, 20 more minutes to play before HW time.... You can not adjust how many minutes of yellow or red color, so using it for 2 min teeth brushing time is not meeting its purpose. I think I'll try it for a cooking timer instead.

Great Idea but Miserably CRAPPY product
This product worked AMAZINGLY for all of about 4 hours. We got it to help my autistic son understand his time lines. We used it 3 times and it stopped working. Thinking we maybe had the worlds worst batteries we changed them but no go. Completely NOT worth the money

Great for the kitchen but AMAZING for kids!
Absolute lifesaver!! As much as I wish it went over 60 minutes of available time, this item is perfect for cooking but even better for my intended purpose. Potty Training!! The light turns red at 60 seconds left and my older boys remind the smallest to run before it beeps. In fact, it just went off right now .... It helps transition activities (TV time, video game time, iPad time, yard work, reading, etc.) with plenty of warning and is much less expensive than other timers designed specifically for children's tasks.

A great unique timer good for all ages!
My 8 yr old daughter uses for tasks and rewards. She earns minutes to watch TV and play on the Ipad for doing chores and tasks. This timer is GREAT for her to then get to spend her reward minutes. We have gotten compliments on how cool it is the timer changes color and flashes faster as the time goes down. We have had it for months now and it is still going strong. A great buy!

Beep Beep Beep!
Works as described and also tells time. Got to use it for the 1st time today with my 12 yr old son. Instead of arguing with him, I just set the timer and told him to be ready by the time the buzzer goes off. I like the green to yellow to red visual warning system. Served the exact purpose that we bought it for.
