Senneliers Artist 48pc Oil Pastel Set, Includes 3 Drawer Wood Storage Box, Assorted Colors

The Sennelier Pastels are a dream to work with. Buttery and vibrant colors. However, the three draw storage box that came with the set stinks so bad that I had to remove the drawers and put them out in my garage to air out. The smell was so strong that someone else in the house asked me to remove the box. I have not had the chance to check if there is any progress of airing it out. A big thumbs up to the pastels and a thumbs down to having to deal with such a strong oder coming from the storage box.

It goes without saying that the Sennelier oil pastels are a joy to use. They are so buttery and the pigmentation is wonderful. Even though oil is not my preferred medium, I use them in my sketchbook. The cabinet is beautiful. It is well made and solid. The only issue I had was that there was some excess stain or oil on the bottom of one of the drawers that had an order. It was easily cleaned up with some mineral spirits. I love that I can store all my pencils, crayons, etc., in one place. I only wish there was a similar product to store my embroidery floss and thread. I would highly recommend this duo and would buy it again.

It took about an hour, but I managed to scrape off most of this orange goo which is on the bottom of all the drawers, and inside the chest itself. It reeks. It made the box of pastels and the wooden chest smell like fertilizer or insecticide. I saw reviews saying the box smells, but it airs out. Hopefully this smell will also go away.I decided to clean and scrape it, since it is for a gift and I don't have time to order another. Make sure to wear gloves, as the orange goo stains anything it touches.

The box provided is about $29.00 and is a strange product to combine with these pastels. I didn't like itS guy u plug because the sennelier pastels don't fit in the drawers if you use either the foam protector that comes with the drawers, or the foam that comes with the pastels. The pastels don't fit even alone, without foam either, if they are the half sticks that are a little bigger than usual like many of them are. There is a better drawer product for these pastels, the 2 drawer Easel top box also from US Art Supply for $39.00 (today's price) that works with the foam provided with the box, and it also works (with a little squeezing,) also with the foam from the pastels for better control of the pastels. I do love these rich colors packed pastels.

I'm so pleased with this set of oil pastels and the 3 drawer box. There is plenty of room in those drawers and they are padded with foam sheets so it's been keeping the oil pastels in place and cleaner than I had imagined. I was able to add my other sets of pastels, pencils, black markers and more. I feel that the value is well worth the money spent on this item. Highly recommend if also looking to upgrade your art supplies to a professional level (in my opinion).

Extremely pigmented, beautiful, velvety pastels. As a mixed media artist, these were a great value with a wide range of colors to experiment with. The pastels themselves are packaged beautifully on their own so I will not be using the wooden box to store them. Instead, I found the box perfect for colored pencils and drawing tools that I use frequently. I love that the boxes are stackable and plan on purchasing a few more to organize the never ending supplies that clutter my art studio.

The pastels ARE amazing! Beautiful and buttery! The box does have a strong smell and did need airing out. I would recommend this product but if it’s a gift air it out before gifting!
