Door Guardian Reinforced Security Lock for Household Doors

If you want safety and you want it done right the first time then buy this. I had spent money on safety features to keep our front door, back and garage doors from getting opened by our little one. Well I stumbled across this and figured I would give it a try since little man figured out all the other safety ones out there. My husband placed it on the doors with his drill at closer to the top and it worked. It has worked so well when we moved I bought more for this house. It is like a magnet but you have to swing it out and around so harder for little ones to figure out. I bought when my son was 2 and he is now eight. He can close it now but would have to stand on a chair and have me show him how to open it. I have to show all guest one time so they know. It is the best safety door closer I have ever used. Family and friends order them once they see it. They also have different colors last house I needed gold this house is white.

okay so I was mixed on getting these or not because of other reviewers saying that they had to chisel the door away. Well I took a chance and it fit perfectly! I order 4 more for the other doors. my moulding does pop out a good 1/2 an inch and no sweat. The problem has nothing to do with moulding but how close your door closes up to the fixed side moulding. If you have a gap install is super quick. If the gap is tight when on the inside moulding where the plate will be installed you will have to use a chisel and hammer and shave a bit out. This is easy and is covered with the installed plate so dont sweat it. Nice looking and really just blend into the door moulding. Very easy to use. Cons are the crap screws they give you so just throw those out and install with a couple of good 2" wood screws. With the "good" screws the install takes 30 seconds! Very secure and quality built.

I have used these before and I believe they provide excellent extra security. This is the first time I used a white one instead of one of the metal finishes. It blends in well with the woodwork.. but... the included screws are painted as well and this adds a challenge for installation. The screws can be driven with either a Phillips or a square drive -- use a square drive ONLY. Even with drilling a pilot hole, it is impossible to avoid stripping the head of the screws with a Phillips bit. The paint in the screw-head makes it impossible to fit a Phillips driver in properly.

My wife and I are caring for her 99 year old mother who has severe dementia. She constantly walks out of the house and wanders off. I tried the Addalock on all doors, but she soon figured out how to slip the locks and escaped several times. I found her once two blocks from our house wandering around trying to find her parents who passed away 50 years ago.I put one of these on each of four exit doors. Installation is quick and easy. On all but one door, I was able to install the lock high enough on the door that she can't reach it. She's only 4'5" tall.It's been a week now, and she is unable to figure out how to slip the lock and open the door. We can all sleep through the night around here now without fearing another "Great Escape"!

Does not work. Impossible to mount on the door frame!! Rip off! Don't buy.

I was searching for something to help when my toddler started reaching for the door handle to let himself outside. I came across this product. Seemed to have great reviews so I purchased 2 since we have double doors. I couldn't find anybody that put them on double doors since you need the doorframe to stabilize it so we put them on the top in the middle of each door.Worked very well! It protects my toddler and reinforced the doors. They are very heavy duty metal and will not budge unless unlocked. I did put some velcro on the top since it was falling down when unlatched and blocking the door. Overall I love it and did what I wanted it to do.

We purchased two to put on back and front door to make sure that our toddler doesn't accidently let herself out. They are very sturdy. We have inadvertently tried to open the door while the deadbolt was down and we could not open it and it didn't break. While the end product is very good, the installation was a little frustrating. The provided self-tapping screw was difficult to install. So hubby drilled his own pilot hole instead of letting it "self tap." Once he abandoned the self-tapping screw and opted for his power tools, it took him about 10 minutes to install each.

Bought two of these to keep my 3 yr old from opening the doors. They came without the clam shell which I'm glad of. Quality of these are heavy duty, very sturdy. Lock mechanism snaps close smoothly and easily. Installation is a matter of screwing in three screws. Package comes with two 3" screws and three 1" screws. The 3" screws are for wooden doors, and you use one of the 1" ones as a place holder. If you have steel doors, then you'd use all three 1" screws; there's special threading on them.Installation tip:If you don't have an impact driver, then pre-drill the holes for the 3" screws.
