I prefer the Dohm sound machines because they're noise is softer and not as harsh as the white noise. However I have been using the Homedics brand that looks similar to this one for my son. But I always muffled the sound by putting a piece of clothing on top. This machine stood out because it offered brown noise! And it did not disappoint. The volume is also excellent I barely turn it to halfway. I had read other reviews and the problem they had with the power button becoming loose etc I've had the same with my homedics ones. If I buy a $20 one every few years I'm good with that. This in my opinion is a great buy mainly because It has the colored noise options. I also added a video because I had searched to hear the sound differences for the colored noises and couldn't find anything. Hope it helps you decide!

This machine is tough for me to review because I LOVE it and there's no other machine I've seen that has PINK noise which was the only really effective form of white noise for my son when he was a newborn. I've since ordered FIVE of these machines. Two for us because my son kicked it off his dresser once and it broke and 3 for friends having babies as I consider it a must have item. If my review was based on that alone I would without a doubt give it a 5. BUT I cannot because the machine starts crapping out after a few months. I don't even know what's wrong with it, my best guess would be that it's possessed by a demon because it all of the sudden started changing the volume by itself getting incredibly loud, so loud it sometimes wakes my son up, and staticky. It's just random and out of the blue that it does it but it's gotten much more frequent so we will either have to buy another one soon or try a different cord maybe or just buy a completely different machine :/

In one word: AWESOME!! The sounds that this wonderful device creates are VERY realistic.I was VERY impressed when I powered this beauty up and began previewing the sounds. The really impressive thing happened when I turned the lights out to go to sleep.This noise machine has great options for different sounds and white noise and good HIGH volume setting.Oh, I forgot to mention the "White Noise" selection. Basically it's the sound you got back in my youth when the TV broadcasting signals shut down at 3am.Originally I got it for my toddler, seeing the results I decided to get one for myself. love the rain setting, so relaxing and noise cancelling.Best money I have spent to help me get some sleep.I would strongly recommend this beauty if you want to get a relaxed night of sleep!

I bought this for the wife and thought it would drive me crazy. It only partially does. This device has a lot of options which is nice. It increases the likelihood that you will find one that will actually allow you to sleep better. On the negative side, the 'natural' sounds like the rain or ocean are electronic creations that are only a few seconds long and loop endlessly. During a sleepless night your brain quickly latches on to the pattern and it only serves to drive you further into madness because you concentrate on that instead of sleeping.We like the Pink Noise the best. It's the least industrial sounding of the background non-natural noises and actually puts us at ease to some degree without sounding like a droning machine in the background.One big dislike for me on this device is the volume control. For sleep all of the volume you'll ever want is in the first 1/8 of space on the dial. It is difficult to dial in exactly where you want the sound to actually be.But for the cost, these drawbacks are merely minor annoyances. Time for bed now.

Fatal flaw -- the power connector is poorly built and quits working before long, so the device can only run on battery power.Oh, another fatal flaw -- when on battery power, if the batteries get low, rather than just getting quieter or stopping it start to squeal, pop, and crackle. After it woke my kid up in the wee hours I found this flaw hard to forgive.I do not recommend this sound machine.

Your browser does not support HTML5 video.  I ordered this because it has a continuous play option. I keep it in my nursery to help keep the baby asleep once we moved her to her own room. A lot of other baby sound machines will only play for 30-60minutes and my munchkin would stir through the night and wake up without the noise in the background. This is light, easy to use, and takes up very little space. They only complaint I have about this is that the volume control is really sensitive and it is hard to find a low volume that is still audible without it going too loud so it takes a few minutes of fiddling with it to get it right. Because of this I just leave it on all day. Great sound machine for the price and I love that there is so many options.

I bought this for traveling in our RV. I only used it 3 times and it quit working. I thought maybe it was bad batteries, but it won't work when plugged in either. It worked one time with no problems. The second time it started cutting out on batteries so I plugged it directly into a wall socket and it worked OK. The third time it started cutting out while plugged in and now it only makes a quick sound when you turn it on then it goes dead. I am past my warranty period so I will just eat the cost and look for a better one.

This has been a life saver in my home. i run a busy, noisy in home childcare center. When it arrived it looked just like the photo, It was easy to set up and use the first time and the sound quality was great. I love the different options for sound, brown noise was my favorite. I have 6 children at afternoon naptime and the sound was soothing and kept noises from waking anyone up. I have recommended this product to several new moms and would have purchased a second one however they were out of stock when i looked a while back.

The product is made in China as written on it.It is not made in USA as claimed by the vendor,,hence the price is high.In what way it promotes or aids in sleeping is not understood,as per the reviews on the product.It is just a gadget for producing different sounds thatis all ,it may disturb sleeping.

The sounds on this white noise machine have a VERY short loop (less than 10 seconds), so there is an interruption in the noise every 6-9 seconds that is very minor (but if you're very sensitive to sound like I am, then this will probably bother you). Also, the sound quality is very poor and all the sounds are a bit tinny. The indicator light on the sound machine and also on the adapter, is very bright and needs to be covered up. I would NOT recommend this sound machine. Unfortunately, I have had to use it for 3 weeks, because it's part of my baby's sleep ritual (and he sleeps in a crib in my room)...so until I get a chance to replace this sound machine, I am stuck with listening to it's awful sounds while trying to sleep.

Is excellent and so useful. Has made sleeping so easy. Drowns out snores and creepy noises. Has wonderful options of sounds to play. Good volume which can be modulated. User friendly!
