Just awesome + 3yr update
This was the biggest outlay I’ve ever made for a single monitor, so wanted to make sure it was something I wouldn’t regret buying given the price. Before I purchased mine, I had two 32inch screens side by side which was great apart from the bezels between the two monitors. This wasn’t much of an issue when using them for work as a swing trader, but quite annoying when playing the few games I play to relax.I eventually found myself at a point where I either bought an ultra-wide monitor or a VR headset. Given VR wasn’t supported on the few games I play, and of course not needing VR for my work, I thought the only avenue was for this monitor.Even though my computer hardware was top notch some years ago (i7-9700k CPU @3.3.60GHz, 32GB ram), I was surprised to see the monitor was still amazing even though I didn’t have the very latest computer hardware to utilise it to its full protentional.Although this monitor can run at 240Hz, I thought most modern games running anything below half of that would be unplayable. Absolutely not! I was horrified to see the Gforce GTX 1650 graphics card I had installed didn’t have a DisplayPort, only a HDMI, so instantly believed this would end up with horrendous screen tear and lag given it could not utilise the G-Sync feature. Again, it was something which didn’t even materialise. The few games I occasionally play were still able to be played at both the maximum resolution (5120x1440), together with the maximum detail within the game, all without any noticeable difference in frame rate.Things to note:Serial number is behind the plastic cable shield at the rear of the monitor. Make note of this before you clip the thing in place as it’s a bit of pain to remove afterwards. You need to go to Samsung.com to register for the warranty.Would have liked the stand support to be a bit more robust given how heavy the monitor is. Although it does do the job, the monitor tends to move when switching it off or dusting. The bottom left side of the monitor started an annoying clicking sound after a couple of days, which I was told was due to the bezel heating up. Fortunately, this stopped after a few weeks and hasn’t returned. The most important question:If I could turn back time would I still buy it? That is an absolute 'yes'! It has changed both the way I work and the few games I play. I'm even looking to buy another one for my partner who adopted my old monitors, especially as these monitors are so much cheaper.UPDATE: + 2.9 yearsHas to be one of my most loved monitors of all time, and this is from someone who tends to buy leading edge equipment. This monitor has been mostly faultless (see above about clicking sound) even though it has been used for about 24,000 hours of operation, some of which has been 19h+.I’m so used to having such a wide screen, it’s always a surprise when someone visiting for the first time comments on how amazing the monitor is.Yeah, it was ground breaking when it was released, and even today is a superior monitor.

If Carlsberg made monitor’s
Am completely blown away how stunning this monitor is, gaming on this G9 is the holy grail. I know Samsung had a lot of problems with the first batch of these monitor’s but they have clearly stepped up to the mark and rectified the issues people we’re having. My unit is near perfect what I mean by near perfect is the blacks, it’s not OLED buts it dam near enough. I have the LG B8 and E6 OLED tv’s and am more than happy enough with the contrast on the G9, the colour’s on the G9 are excellent and the PQ is stunning, everything is so sharp and pristine in 5120 x 1400 and that 1000r curve is just the icing on the cake. The 240hz is undeniably the best gaming experience I’ve ever had, it’s just so smooth. The 1ms response time just adds to the immersion for lighting fast movement’s, it really does make me a better player in fast paced multiplayer games. I have to say it but this monitor is probably the best bit of tech I’ve ever bought, if your on the market for a gaming and productivity monitor this is the best no doubt.

Works perfectly
Read plenty of reviews and risked it. Got jackpot.Problems people encounter:Weird smell - Not in my caseFlickering - Just in some cases only if I use Adaptive sync. Not really in game or so, but sometimes if I just scroll there is slight flicker depending on where as websites are OK but some software will slightly flicker, noticeable only if the app uses darker colours.Light bleeding - NopeProblems with colours - NopeMonitor menu not responding - NopeCracking/clicking sounds - NopeActual "problems":It is quiet heavy as I was mounting it alone, it had to be done while still in box. That stand is quiet wide so it will cover quiet a lot of the table (might get in you way where you would use your mouse)For the screen being 2x27" it eats 5-times as much as my old 27" monitor. The price I guess...The "Infinity Core Lightning" is IMHO absolutely useless. Especially in my case when the back of the monitor is facing the room (I am in the corner, my back facing the wall behind me.)What I like about it:The coloursThe blackThe sizeThe HzThe curvatureThe menuThe brightness (Is crazy like... Had to put it on lowest settings as I use it in darker room. Tried to see if direct sunlight would affect it somehow. I could see crystal clear with max brightness in direct sunlight hitting the monitor from over my shoulder... That is just crazy.)I got used to it quiet quickly. My neck, eyes, head etc. doesn't hurt at all.It offers advantage when you are using it either on casual web browsing, work or gaming.Web browsing, work - multiple windows right next to each other such as web browser, notes, your work I usually fit 4 next to each other, 3 if I want them bigger.Gaming - Wider field of view, depending on game bigger selection on menu (building games) or easier inventory management.5/5 Would recommend but it seems you need to be lucky and get the good ones.
