Don't hesitate; this product is wonderful
I was a little hesitant about buying this product after reading some of the reviews, but this thing has changed my life. It's not as delicate as people are saying, as long as you take care of it properly. Here are some things I've found that helps me maximize this product and the flavor of my coffee:1) Heat up the carafe and your mug before you start brewing. Pour some of your hot water into both container, making sure you warm up the sides as well. This helps keep your coffee warm, which releases the aromas and flavors that you're looking for. When you start with a cold carafe and pour it into a cold mug, you keep losing heat and your coffee will get cold before it hits your lips.2) I think the reason people see this device as delicate is because they put it in their sink to clean later, so it bumps and clinks against other dishes. Just rinse this bad boy immediately after use and you'll be fine. I don't even take soap to it; I just rinse it really well and let it air dry. What I've found by doing this is that the coffee tastes better and better each time. Those coffee oils are no joke. I think it's like the cast iron skillet concept. I'm obviously going to wash this with soap after awhile, but so far this has been key to delicious flavor. When you rinse your carafe, make sure you use hot/warm water so you don't crack the glass. Going from hot to cold is what ruins and breaks glass.3) Brewing coffee like this is not for the busy person rushing out in the morning for work. You probably already know that, but I feel like its necessary to mention. I'll usually pour water until I don't see a crema anymore. I've found that you can speed up the process a little if you pick up the filter just over the rim and gently shake it from side to side to encourage the water to go through. The water will resist going down by the end of the process, so this seems to help. It also helps getting all the grinds to the bottom of the filter so it's cleaner when you throw the grinds away (it hits the garbage in one chunk rather than splatter all over the place).4) I'm still playing around with the best grind size. What I've found is grinding your beans to different sizes and combining it all makes the best combination. So I'll grind my beans to regular drip coffee, cone, and espresso, and combine all the sizes. This helps with the water going through and makes for a great flavor profile.Hope this helps! I highly recommend this product; don't be afraid of coming over to the pour over side! Your coffee will be more delicious than you ever expect and you'll never want to drink coffee any other way again!

Brews Coffee Well
I was brewing my coffee grounds with the old canvas "sock" attached to a wire handle. My mom had given this "sock" so I could brew a cup of coffee, instead of a whole pot. I've used this method for years. I was searching for a small coffee pot, but I didn't want the Keurig type. I came across this Stanley brew over and bought it. I have been so pleased with its design and ease if use. I brew my coffee, and my coffee tastes really good. I was surprised at first, and thought this probably was beginner's luck. However, I have brewed a cup daily since I received it, and it has never disappointed me. This purchase was my Christmas gift to myself. I am very pleased with this product. It's very easy to wash and no stains left behind, not like the old canvas "sock".

Great cup of coffee!
Wow...great cup of coffee! I've been using a Teavana pour over plastic strainer for the past 5 years. Well it eventually started falling apart and the plastic degrading. I bought this because it was all metal and should last much longer. I just brewed my first cup of Columbian and the taste is night and day better by far. This was a great purchase even considering the price. A great camping or home alternative to French press which happens to have more parts to clean. I'm into buying only stainless steel items now. Thanks Stanley!

Sustainable!
I’ve never purchased a Stanley item before. I heard of them because of the target Black Friday last year where people went crazy over the tumblrs. I think carrying something so big is obnoxious and I avoided this brand for a long time because of the stigma. I was looking for a coffee maker that made a single cup and I didn’t have to use pods or electricity for some coffee at my work desk. I should have known to look for camping stuff! This is perfect for me. I’m a bit of a coffee snob and aside from the waste of plastic I was not a fan of the freeze dried coffee flavor from pods. You get great flavor from this although it only needs to brew for 4 min. I get bougie ground coffee and never had a problem with the grinds seeping through. I also always put flower petals in the top for extra flavor- and it does a great job at seeping them into the coffee but never see them in my cup. Oh- and I read the Stanley promise, I love that you can call them for replaced parts instead of purchasing the whole set which makes me feel comfortable about my purchase. I have mugs at home but I was nervous about buying the pour over separately in case it’s not compatible with any of the mugs I own. It seems like it totally would be, but the set is aesthetically pleasing. I also HATE stainless steel items because I can taste the metal. I think coffee is a strong flavor to begin with, but luckily I don’t taste metal at all with Stanley :)
