Oasis

I usually don't write reviews but Oasis gets 5 stars from me. I didn't know about Oasis before I watched it but got drawn into it and the ride was worth it. I particularly liked the magical moments where the girl no longer has her disabilities, like when they are in the subway station and she sings to him, her boyfriend, and dances him in her wheel chair when nobody else is around. The guy has trouble figuring out how to not act on impulse but he genuinely cares for her. Don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't seen it but I think this movie will get to anyone in a good way.

That was amazing to me that was a sign that all people are equal {period.} I hope people see this movie and be moved as I was I'm from virginia and here they would of done the same to them. People need to have compassion instead of cruelty.... and love and understand all people with any condition thats not perfect. And the acting in this movie by both were extraordinary, we need more of this. I'm just a Caucasian white women with a big heart.

The actors are incredible.

this is about life in a dumpster in my opinion. I've bought any number of Asian films, some I toss because they have few redeeming features. Others i'll fight to keep. This one did nothing whatever for me. Maybe the producer(s) wanted to show life as it really is. I for one don't want to see it as it is. I've seen enough of the ugly.

Several times I almost stopped the movie and skipped unnecessary parts like watching for periods of time the poor young girl contort her face and body and not be able to live a humane life. Yes that is good acting but pitiful and true how the victims of C/P live. But....It would be like watching someone hanging and studying the kicking , coNtortion and final death of someone.Not an easy watch but may make the actor in high esteem. I don`t want to see that . All I have to do is watch the news everyday and hear all the sad and terrible troubles in life. I agree that both were not able to fit in society which was sad. THERE WAS NOTHING THAT SHOWED THAT THEY WOULD BE TOGETHER OR THAT SHE WAS ABLE TO TELL OTHERS THAT SHE CARED FOR HIM AS C/P CAUSES SPASMS WHEN UPSET. DID NOT LOOK LIKE SHE WAS EVEN TAKEN CARE OF PROPERLY. I WOULD NEVER WATCH THIS MOVIE AGAIN NO MATTER HOW TRUE IN NATURE It IS ...WHY NOT MAKE A FILM ON SOMEONE ATcUAL IN THE DEATH PROCESS AND HAVE SOMEONE LOVE THEM....OH HOW ROMANTIC THAT WOULD BE...UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! people esp. people in this day and time look for a release ,to forget the sadness. If it is going to be sad AT LEAST LET THEM GET TOGETHER BECAUE IN REAL THEY NEVER WILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I cannot believe this movie is not rated higher. This is one of the best movies I have ever watched. It is an incomparable love story. I think it speaks to the core drive of the human experience. Some people may be repulsed by disabled people being portrayed but please keep an open mind. The story speaks to the heart and is incredibly well done.

The best part of the movie for me was the acting especially of the female lead. I am so familiar with the cerebral palsy the girl had and the probable mildly mentally retarded diagnosis of the male lead, having worked with them for years, that the actual story was like a rerun of my former work and I don't mean it in a cold way. However, the acting of the girl with CP was so PERFECT that I was convinced she actually had CP and I do hope she won a well deserved award. If not familiar with the handicapped, then this film should bring to light that they are just like us with normal needs and feelings, and just because they may not be able to communicate effectively (although those that work with them professionally, or, those that really "care" usually know exactly what they're attempting to communicate), does not mean they should be taken advantage of as the young girl was obviously neglected by those who were pretending to take care of her and fend care because they thought she couldn't say anything about it. Usually those with CP are NOT mentally retarded, they are just locked in a spastic body, in this case anyways, she was VERY aware of everything. I really believe they serve as karmic subjects for those that are in their presence and for society in general and they are often high souls that take on that role. Just remember, "there before the grace of God go I". If you watch this film with an open heart and can put yourself in their place, then I believe the point of the movie was 5 stars!

Eine zarte Liebesgeschichte zwischen zwei Menschen, die aufgrund ihrer Behinderung fortlaufend den diskriminierenden Angriffen anderer Menschen, auch denen ihrer eigenen Familie, ausgesetzt werden und die mit aller Kraft versuchen, für sich eine kleine heile Welt aufzubauen. Wie alle Filme von Lee Chang-Dong sehr sehenswert!

Very good movie, like al Chang-dong Lee movies!!
