Prospectors vs. Suavecito
This product has completely ruined Suavecito for me. I've used Suavecito for years and has been my default pomade for a while. I'll be using that as my control for comparison. P=Prospectors S = SuavecitoPackaging:P = One word, awesome. Comes in a large metal tin (4.5 oz). It's very detailed and has a lot of neat touches like the shovel and pick on the inside. Looks nice on the bathroom counter.S = Plastic tub. meh.Advantage = ProspectorsTexture :P = Scoops very easily and has a nice creamy texture.S = Very sticky and tacky textureAdvantage = ProspectorsHold:P = I have a slick back and the hold for me lasts around 12 hours. If your a night owl you might need to apply again before going out. Hair isn't stiff or crunchy and is soft to the touch. I also noticed that my hair is better trained and will tend to want to stay slicked back even without the pomade. The added oil definitely conditionsS= Hold lasts a full 24 hours. Very crunchy almost brittle texture. Dries so hard feels like you could snap a strand of hair off. Feels like you're wearing a helmet of hair. Why did I love this again?Advantage = ProspectorsWashing outP = water based and rinses out very easily in the shower even before using shampooS = water based and rinses out very easily as wellAdvantage = drawScentP = I absolutely despised this scent at first. My wife described it as old lady and called me Ethel for the rest of the day. I wouldn't describe is as old lady, but I would describe it as a very clean soapy type scent. It's not overly masculine, but it definitely isn't feminine. It's just a nice fresh clean scent and I ended up growing to really like it after a few usesS = The best part of this product in my opinion. Very strong masculine scent.Advantage = SuavecitoOverall, this product out performs Suavecito in every category with the exception of scent. If you like Suavecito you owe it to yourself to give this product a try.

Works well, smells good, and easy to wash out with just water
So far I have just used it this to hold a slick back and it works well for that. If someone goes undone it's easy to address with a bit of water on my hands. It smells good and lasts for a long time. The pomade is easy to wash out with just water.

Hair pomade
Love this product as it holds but not stiff on ones hair.

Smells manly and it provides good shine and not too messy.
Definitely worth the money and will buy again when I run out. It has kind of a bay rum and woodsy smell to it but it's not overwhelming or offensively strong. It'd just right. I have thick hair and it holds great without being sticky or flaky

Best oil based pomade I've tested so far.
Finally, after 8 months of trying pomades for my hair, leaving stacks of barely used product in my under sink cabinet, collecting dust, I finally found the one that does exactly what I want it to doI've been aiming for a 50's greaser look for my hair, and although I have a proper cut and style for that, the pomades have been lacking in a lot of ways. I've tried petroleum based, water based and oil based. All have great positives to them. Suavecito smells amazing, and works into your hair smoothly and evenly, but it dries like a gel. Leaving your hair stiff and looking like 80's helmet hair.Layrite was...okay. Basically all the things I've stated about Suavecito can also be said about Layrite.Surprisingly, Axe pomade is rather close to perfect as you're going to get for such a large name brand. The smell is mild, unlike their body sprays, thankfully. For a petroleum based water soluble pomade, it's pretty close to perfect.Prospector's Crude Oil pomade is by far the best pomade I've used. I have scary thick and wavy hair. If I'm not using something to keep it under control, I look like I have a wavy poof ball of hair. Most products fail me because of my hard to manage hard part quiff. The scent is almost non-existent. So there's no real worry there. The only negative is, because it's oil based, 2 to 3 washes (in the same shower) will be needed if you wish to get it all out. The hold is not hard. It's pliable so it's easy to comb through for a quick touch up. The hold is far better than expected actually, and the shine is subtle, not too wet looking. Medium shine level imo. This was what ultimately made me want to try a number of oil based pomades, the shine. I'm not talking the constantly wet look shine, but the clean cut, semi-natural looking shine which very few pomades can achieve without it making your hair look dirty. Prospector's Crude Oil truly is the pomade those of us with really thick, hard to manage hair need.Everyone has different hair, and this isn't a product I'd recommend for someone with a thinner or finer texture to their hair. It's a bit heavy and can weigh hair down. A little goes a long way so the 4.5 ounce tin is a good 6+ months of daily use before you need to get more, making it well worth the cost.I would give 5 stars if it was easier to wash out.

Stake your claim to this nugget!
I've been using this since 2018, and while I sometimes try others out of curiosity, I always end up disappointed in comparison. Smooth and slick with a fantastic scent. There's no need to look any further!
