DELICATE SOUND OF THUNDER

It’s simply fantastic for a concert filmed over 30 years ago!
Ok so this was in the later years box set, and some will call out with some justification that this looks like profiteering from the same content. That said, the later years box set is supplied with poor quality sleeves and this at least turns up looking something like a blu ray release should do.And the transfer is glorious. Plenty of work has gone into selecting different camera angles and footage not seen on the original VHS and laserdisc release. I owned both and it beggars belief how much better this is than the original big silver disc version. It also sounds great - and whilst its not cheap, this is at least a quality product with plenty of effort made to do justice to an excellent release. My only complaint is that I imagine there is other footage from the missing tracks found on the newly expanded CD release. In particular, welcome to the machine sounds fresh on the updated CD and that would have been nice to see on the dvd.But overall, owning the updated music and film content is a must for fans of this era of pink floyd.

Uh............Wots The Deal!!!!!
This issue only has 16 songs!! WHY?? The box set and the vinyl both have 23!!! Pink Floyd you REALLY REALLY have let your fans down with this release. Yes, this an amazing show, yes it is brilliantly shot, brilliantly remixed etc, but to issue it with 7 songs MISSING - you are ripping your fans off!! I'm sending my copy back!!

It's average picture. P.U.L.S.E is miles better
In the end, after a long wait, I was not as thrilled by this Blu-ray by PF as I was by the normal DVD of P.U.L.S.E which is far superior IMO."Sorrow" was lackluster in this concert as opposed to P.U.L.S.E and the whole experience left me thirsty for more and better. If you are reading this Mason or Gilmour, please release P.U.L.S.E on Blu-ray. It's a far superior concert and "Sorrow" is sublime in it as well as Comfortably Numb. Please please please, pretty please with sugar on top.So no, I would not recommend it, sorry.

Hang on, didn't I buy this last year?
Yep thought so, in the "Later years" boxset, so now it get's a stand alone release...and the bonus features are tracks that should have been included in the film anyway? Is this a new pointless trend with Floyd & Waters? the later putting "Comfortably Numb" as an "extra" on the recent Us & Them dvd/blu ray but not including it in the film? Hmmm really not sure what's going on with your marketing guys who for years have been fleecing us fans with pointless re releases and remasters yep this new edition looks and sounds great and it's the first time other than in last years boxset its been available officially on dvd/blu ray but if like me you bought the box set on last year then you DON'T need this as its EXACTLY the same as what's in the box set..confused?.me too...

Great picture and sound
This was bought for me as a Christmas 2020 present by my wife.. I can only say how impressed I was by the quality of the whole production IE watching on a 75 inch LG with a Canton soundbar... this is as close to high definition as you will get for a 1988 concert. Fantastic sound too.The editing , close shots and surprisingly sharp imageary is great.I don't think the grain, if it worries you... detracts much or at all... it adds atmosphere in my view and is really acceptable.. the low light detail is very good too.We have got too used to big screens and detail in modern concert Blu-rays. The cameras are better and better now too in recent years but really it's all in the editing etc. This film is great in that regard. We have to remember this was originally filmed 32 years ago on 35mm Agfa? .In my view the whole film is far superior to more recent concert Blu-rays. Even beating the far more recent David Gilmour at the Royal Albert Hall (2006) Blu-ray which was poorly put together in my view especially the low light shots... And poor cameras too. This Blu-ray is totally recommended. A great concert recording even if it has been re-edited etc ( only for the better it seems!). So what!Great recording to own and watch again and again...

At last.
A stunning show. The original VHS release was marred by awful post production effects that pretty much ruined a great looking show in much the same way as Peter Gabriel's POV video from the 80s's, also subsequently upgraded and expanded to stunning effect a few years ago. This is how it should have been done. They really should have expanded it with the rest of the songs from the set though. They lose one star for relegating them to extra features on a £90 special edition.

Amazing show
Best live show of all time. All the band are on top form, love the sax player and the bass player is a much better singer than Roger Waters. The 3 backup singers are great, I could watch them all day. The MLOR songs sound a lot better live especially ‘on the turning away’ - the solo is mind blowing. Only neg is the lack of Another brick In the wall, not sure why it’s not there as it was on the cd. I wish pulse was shot on 35mm film as the light show on pulse is better but for me the sound/performance is better on this.

Brilliant remix
I was amazed to see this on Sky Arts, & immediately checked its' availability on Amazon. Next day delivery allowed me to switch the lights down, headphones on & disappear into the great concert and a (quite) young trio that was Pink Floyd 1988. Superb sound enhanced the video, and an excellent selection of Floyd classics (plus a couple not so well known, but brilliant additions). Only downside for me personally was that the concert preceded the recording of High Hopes, so a really meaningful track for me wasn't able to be there. Despite that, the superb musicians and production makes this a firm favourite now. Highly recommended.
