I've been lucky to enjoy several days of foraging in John's company and have enjoyed every one of them immensely.It's not just John's vast knowledge of wild food (which he imparts enthusiastically) that I enjoy; it's also his little anecdotes, his humour and his honesty!If a plant or a mushroom is edible but tastes awful - he will tell you!From my first flick through this lovely new book I can see that he has brought that honesty to it too. Thankfully, there's also plenty of his anecdotes and good humour also.Reading the introduction, it feels like I am back in John's company, listening to his lovely tales of Blackberry picking with his parents or other countryside adventures.This book is laid out clearly by month and the photos help with easy identification of the various plants available in each season.I strongly recommend you pick up a copy and enjoy some time on a foraging expedition, in John's company.

well worth a read if you are interested in just being outdoors. I'm not a forager, but I do spend time in the woods and the book has been really helpful in learning what plants are useful and when they are ready to be used. I take it with me and sit under a tree with a flask of tea. it just seems the right thing to do. :-)

Be careful thks is a good book if you like mushrooms not many other bits of foraging in it

I'm a keen wild food fanatic, and I wanted to add another book to my collection. The Foragers Calendar is now one of my favourites, it's packed full of useful information and has 373 pages on wild food also further reading follows those pages. The only gripe is that the months of the calendar do not follow the listed items, they seem to be all over the place depending on the month. I can highly recommend this book although a little heavy on walks, also funny at times.Pros... Great for the beginner and professional alike. Humorous at times.Cons...... Heavy for walks and layout could be a little bit better.

Super super fast delivery, i was moat impressed! 18 hours after clicking the basket through.Im spending a year out hiking all year round an this will be my bible... I know plenty of them in the book. But using the book foraging an the vast information in this wonderfully written and superb an clear pictures. Im very happy with the book!Apart from one thing! Its very heavy to be carrying round all the time.... But i need this book so i will have to carry it!!!!#DanTheWalkingMan
