I bought the Klee cast iron wok. The wooden lid has black colored liquid come off when wet. What is this black stuff?

I am trying to find out if there is any nonstick coating on it if not , what kind of vegetable oil was used to season it ?

is the wood lid treated or coated w anything? If so is it non toxic?
