No more crappy auger bits!
I've always hater the auger bits I've ought at big box stores like Home Depot and Menards. They don't drive well, and they leave a lot of tear out. I've always preferred the Bosch devil paddle bits, as they leave a decently clean hole and have a screw tip to self feed. The problem is, you hit one nail or screw and that Bosch paddle bit is significantly less effective. This woodOwl bit is amazing. It has a screw tip so it feeds without a ton of pressure. You need to use the high torque/ low speed setting on your drill, but with that you get a clean hole drilled very easily. And this thing eats through nails! I've gone through more than a half dozen nails with the bit, and there's no significant damage to the bit, and it still drill very well.I'm done with the big box auger bits from Iwrin and even the Bosh paddle bits. These WoodOwl bits are going to be all I use if I have anything to say about it!

Best auger bits available for wood with nails.
I am a small electrical contractor and we drill a lot of holes in a large variety of wood. Drilling through wood with nails is never easy, but these bits are usually going to be your best option. They are easy to sharpen with a small triangular file and they cut through most nails encountered pretty easily. Of course it is important to have the right drill and be experience at drilling through nail infested boards.

Be prepared, this broke my dewalt drill and 7amp drill
Auger bit drills deep and is strong. With that said, it snapped the shank of my dewalt 20v max drill. So $20 bit killed $200+ drill. I went to 7amp drill, it burned it up after the drill almost broke by arm holding it. This is an expensive bit is what I’m getting at. 28V max up next to attempt to retrieve bit from black walnut slab that I am drilling

king of the drill bit for woods with nails.
I am rewiring my house and been drilling studs and top plates all over my 80yr old house.I wish I found this bit earlier, so much better than what you HD drill bit for wood embeded nails. It went thru the top late and a hidden nail smoothly, leaving a perfect hole.the three tips are a distinctive feature. If you don't know what might be on your drill path, this is your drill bit.

Nice utility bit, chews through framing, not for fine work, 18V drill in low gear works fine.
Works well, cuts reasonably smooth holes (not fine woodworking!), my 18V Makita easily drives it in low gear.Only down side - it may be a "Nail Chipper", but it didn't stand up to a buried drywall screw - the hard screw gouged the cutting edge. But I don't know of any bit that could do better, and this one kept drilling holes fine even after hitting the screw.

This bit is actually made in JAPAN. Is very well machines and sharp. I've not tried it out yet but it looks to be an excellent piece of kit.

Very smooth holes, and eats nails for lunch!
I'm an electrician. I'll say this about all the WoodOwl nail chipper bits. They are w/o equal for the price. I've used several of them from 3/4 to 1 1/2. They make very smooth holes, and slice through nails easily. You can only tell you hit one from the snapping sound, and the shiny sheared-off metal in the hole when you're done. Also, you can re-sharpen them several times with just a flat file. Though when the self-feed screw tip starts to go, its takes more and more effort to drive it through the wood, the more it gets damaged. I drilled an entire 2800sq ft house with (1) 3/4" nail chipper on a 12" 7/16 shank extension, in a high speed Hole Hawg. I went through 12 nails that i knew of. Through......i didnt start bouncing on a nail, have to reverse out and drill next to it......right through em. I only had to sharpen it once near the end, because it was slowing down a bit.------------------------------------------------------- I've got various sizes from 3/4" - 1 1 /2", 7 1/2" and 18" long. Even @ full price (the prices go up and down, so watch for reductions), price vs. performance against an Irw!n, and ive only got one thing to say.....---Anyone wanna buy my Irw!ns?---Woof
