Seems to bend a 3/8" radius. Is there some attachment or modification that can get close to a 1/8" radius?

The answer is yes, but it was not from the mfg. I made my own shoe. The one that comes with the break is 1/2" thick. I used a piece of 3/8 flat bar and cut it out and finished it on the milling machine. I milled the edge to a 90 deg. edge point. It works quite well.

To make a 36" wide U (outside measurement) using two 90 degree bends in a 3/16" x 2" steel plate, where do I start bending, at 34" apart?

Best is to use an extra section of your material for a test bend. Mark/scribe a line on the material and align it to the moving fixture on the tool. It should bend on your line. Be aware that the tool does not always make a parallel bend , so you might have to twist the material afterwards to make everything straight. A long piece like you are using needs to be supported so it doesn't move when you are bending it.

Has anyone has success bending 3/16" x 2" mild steel. I tried it and bend the pin that hold the top plate in place. Also broke the top plate

Same here. 3/16” x 3” mild steel, bent both the top and bottom arms beyond operational use the second time I used it. So I went and bought a bearing press from Harbor Freight and a press brake from Swag off-road. Have been bending 3/8” x 3” mild steel with zero issues. Wish I would have invested my money there originally.

I'd like to bend a U shape in 16 gauge steel (1" wide strip of steel) with the bottom of the U and both sides of the U being 3/4" length?

I don't think this will meet your needs. It works by pulling a 7/16" thick bar into a V-shaped notch (but with a U-shaped bottom, not a pointed one). The bottom of the V-shaped part that the bending bar presses into is approx 3/8" wide, so I don't see how you could get your bend to be 3/4" wide. It will likely be more like 1/2"; it's hard to say with certainty without actually trying it.

This Is A Great Machine

I bought this because I want to put bends into 0.074 inch steel. Not to put too fine a point on it but the machine works perfectly. It would be nice if they sold different size mandrels, but the one that came with it is perfectly good. I expect many years of service from this machine.

Great tool for the price

Use this tool to make motor mounts and brackets for my car project. Bent 3/8 inch steel and quarter inch aluminum without problems. Tool seems durable and will probably last a long time.

Well made.

Difficult to use, especially when tying to bend on a straight line. Bends are coming out crooked since the alignment line gets hidden when the metal is installed.

Mark the face and set location

The media could not be loaded. Mounting it and adding some cheat bars helps tremendously for doing multiple bends and I used a digital angle finder to find my sweet spot

Works good but….

It didn’t work very well then I noticed that the top strap was in a bind and wouldn’t work properly. Then I compared it to the picture on the box. That top strap is on upside down. Remove the pin, install the top strap properly and it works great.

The bends are not square or even. Putting marks and setting the gauge. It's okay for rough fabrication but not finish work.
