Living Well by Design: Melissa Penfold

Fabulous Book
The no-jacket hard cover is well done, but a little misleading on this book -- proving you can't judge a book by its cover. This cover makes you think it's another book of English Country style. But inside is an anthology of highly sophisticated, mostly neutral interiors, with subtle color infused only now and then, reminiscent in style to that of Darryl Carter. This will be sitting on the top of whichever of my stacks of design books it ends up in. It is, simply put, my new favorite.

Back to the basics in the best way possible
Many interior design books tell you where to place your books on the shelf, this book doesn't do that. Instead the author takes you through the fundamentals of good design, and how to create a home you love without trying to pigeonhole any kind of design 'style'. Such a great book!

Beautiful!
Such a beautiful book! So well designed and such great quality. Captures Melissa Penfold's vibe perfectly: her superb writing, her excellent advice, and her perfect eye for the best interior design. I loved the chapter on Melissa's own house. So beautiful, can't even handle it! This one will stay at the top of the pile for some time!

Chic
Melissa is so clever and chic. I've spend hours with this book pouring over Melissa's amazing advice which you won't find in other design books.
