duff
what an absolute waste, the original book was 45 chapters long, this excuse is 11 chapters long, needless to say a lot of the storey is missing. had intended it as a Christmas present for a grand child, only fit place for it is the bin.

Not the original story.
I wasn't aware that it wasn't the original story, but a child friendly adapted version. I was disappointed when it arrived, but it's my fault for not reading the description thoroughly.

Seven-year-old daughter loved it!
My seven-year-old daughter loves to read and I was eager to introduce her to the classics in English literature. I knew the original versions might be too daunting for her due to the high level vocabulary and have been looking around for well-written adaptations that retain the essence of the original. The language in this adaptation is pitched just right, neither too easy nor too advanced for an independent young reader. The story has enough drama and action to keep a young reader engaged. There are many other classics in the Stepping Stones Classics chapter book series, and I highly recommend them for independent young readers who'd like to read the classics. There are also two DVDs which I think would be lovely complements to this book: Swiss Family Robinson (Vault Disney Collection) The Adventures of Swiss Family Robinson - The Complete SeriesSwiss Family Robinson (Vault Disney Collection)The Adventures of Swiss Family Robinson - The Complete Series

Boring
We read this book to our 8 year old son each night before bed and it was terribly boring. We were looking for books so that he could read along to himself and that would introduce him to some classics. We enjoyed Tom Sawyer, Les Miserables, and Robin Hood from this series much more. This one was just too boring.
