Not as easy as I thought it would be to get neat watermelon slices. The flexible knife is the best part of this!

There are so many of these watermelon slicers on Amazon but I chose this one because it also came with a flexible knife that I thought would be real helpful in coring areas of the melon that could not be reached by the slicer tool. I was right about that and the knife came in very handy. The knife is flexible so it can easily curve along the bottom and the sides of the rind to remove every bit of melon out. I take all the loose pieces that I trim off with the knife and put them in the blender to make fruit smoothies so nothing is wasted. I serve all the nice and uniform pieces that are cut with the slicer to my family. I love that my kids don't have to handle the sticky wet rind to eat the watermelon anymore. It also really hard to cut through the rind to serve individual pieces but this new way of coring out the watermelon totally eliminates the need to ever serve with the rind attached to the melon again. Both the slicer and knife are great new additions to my collection of useful kitchen gadgets.Easily cores out watermelon to serve without the rind for my kids.

This item is totally useless. It's awkward to use. A knife works better.

Love the flexible knife

Excellent for cutting watermelon. Only issue that I have is pulling the first piece, but thumbs up for the second part to resolve(most don't include this).

I have never used a watermelon slicer before and as we are a household that goes through at least 2 watermelons a week I figured it was time to try it.Oh my...what I have been missing.This tool makes it soooooo much easier to carve up the watermelon and if at any time I just want a quick slice of watermelon, all I have to do is cut it out...no messy slicing the rind off or getting juice everywhere. So I told my wife to pick up a watermelon, as I wanted to try out this new cutter. It was the day before July 4th, and the store was sold out of big American watermelons. She brought home two of those small overpriced gourmet watermelons. If you try to use this on a watermelon that is about 8" in diameter, it's not efficient at all. I got two thick slices and had to use the included plastic carving tool to get out the rest of the meat. That plastic tool does work great, and my wife likes it more than the main slicer-tong tool.I went back out to another store and got a huge watermelon. After a little practice, I was pulling out thick watermelon steaks. I did not even get a chance to cube them up, as my kids had a ball eating the "steaks" with a knife and fork.This made quick work of serving up a big watermelon. I don't love the task of slicing watermelon, rind and all with a cleaver or large knife. I always feel like I am about to lose a finger with one wrong move. This tool set means I just have to make that one initial cut (slicing it in half, lengthwise) and then the rest is easy and safe.

This is the best invention EVER. I love watermelon. But I rarely get it because it is such a hassle. Cutting it. Cleaning up. The whole process was just too inconvenient. Until now. This tool slices the watermelon into perfect slices with ease. The slicer then acts as tongs to retrieve the piece. I also love the flexible coring knife. It allows you to get every last piece off of the rind. The juices stay in the rind, so there is no mess. I love this so much! I'm getting some for all my family members!
