Easy and safe to use
The big pluses are no moving parts and no sharp blades. Not expensive. Easy to clean. No danger of getting cut. This is my second one. My first one, I had for a couple years. But the pin, used to slice the watermelon, a rivet broke on one end.

Too flimsy to work well. Somewhat dangerous as well
The idea is terrific. But don’t buy.The video shows how wonderfully easy carving up a watermelon can be.The truth is that the talent on camera likely practiced with dozens of watermelons before she could flawlessly carve for the shoot.Using the unit, the carving far from flawless. Since I cut up only a 1/2 dozen watermelons a year, I wasn’t sure I’d ever be proficient at using that knife. But more importantly, the knife is rather dangerous. The good news is that one side is very sharp. The bad news is that the construction is flimsy, causing the user (well, me) to be tempted to grab the knife erroneously.Holding the knife more tightly also closes its jaws, which ruins the carving pattern. I’m sure I’m writing this as an excuse for my poor execution but I fear there may be some general truth to my experience.A more solid build might actually be a great idea. I willNot use this unit again.

Works like a charm!
This watermelon slicer exceeded my expectations. It cut through the watermelon so smoothly that I was astounded. I have since bought two more to give as gifts - that's how well this slicer works. Also, with such clean slices, the watermelon slices stays fresh longer since it is not mangled or sliced through multiple times with a knife, which can cause it to seep juice and disintegrate into smaller pieces.

Very Flimsy
Used it the first time to cut a watermelon and it ended up bending and becoming misshapen. After my first slice I noticed it didn’t follow the rind and left a lot of melon behind. The next slice I pushed a little harder to get it close to the rind and it came out with both sides bent near the tip, causing the slice to be extra wide and still not all the way next to the rind. Would not recommend.

It does the job
It’s a little flimsy but it does do it’s job of cutting and it doesn’t leave a huge mess

Very convenient! Actually works.
I used to cut my watermelons in a peculiar way because I thought it was best. I have abandoned that method and adopted this. Very easy, gets it all.

Watermelon slicer
I liked the idea of making easy wide slices without tons of juices everywhere. However the sides of the slicer were to free to float in and out sideways making it hard to control the width of the slicer. I ended up cutting myself very badly by try to use my finger to steady it. I ended up in the hospital for 4 days because of infection in the cut. If you make the handle solid to support the blades at a fixed width, I think it would be better.
