Don’t Buy it to Keep Time
Clock was fun to assemble and looks great on the shelf. I noticed at dinner last night the time as 1800 and the clock was 0100 or 1300 hard to tell. No worries, we weren’t fooled. It looks great. Time is via battery power not the inner workings. No big deal. The deal is a fun to assemble clock that looks like an owl. My wife loves it.

The good, and the bad.
First of all, the technology to create these packages is nothing short of amazing. The assembly process takes time. The instructions are very good. The prior reviews I read mentioned needing to use wax throughout the process. When I called the company about the wax it was explained that for export reasons they are not able to ship the wax with the product. So I received my product, I then began assembling it. I will say the instructions have a lot of places they recommend applying the wax. I was very disappointed that there is no link to buy separately the required wax. I then got to to the point of attaching the hands of the clock to the front of the unit and low and behold I found a small package with wax included. I then became very frustrated as I actually had it in the product the entire time and could have been using it. So now we come to the bad part. I get the clock completed, however the rear facing components do not work. The gears do not rotate unless I manually rotate the product by the gears. I suspect, if I had waxed the parts all would be well. The good news is, this was a gift for someone who collects owls. So they will more than likely NEVER use the timer on the back. But it would have been nice. The second bad part is the design for the clock movement part pins the clock mechanism in between the front and rear sections with NO ACCESS to the battery compartment to replace the battery. You basically have to disassemble the clock (last two steps in the manual) to replace the battery. This is frankly a terrible design. I'm not sure why, you could not have had a base for the clock that had the battery compartment in a drawer under the clock. This would be much more convenient to replace. So would I recommend the product to others. Absolutely.

Our favorite new addition to our living room
The media could not be loaded. So I got this for my husband and I as a fun little weekend project. We had the idea to use some woodstain on it because it’s an owl and the general colors of woodstain are that of most owls. We stained both sides of all five of the panels prior to beginning to assemble it and let it dry for a day. We think it came out looking pretty great, but you can judge for yourselves. As for putting it together, we had basically no difficulty in doing so, you just have to go slow and very deliberately. There are plenty of areas during assembly it’s “easy” to get ahead of yourself and you’ve got to dial back the forward movement and be sure you’ve followed the minor details (sanding, waxing, mindful of forward or rear facing piece, gear direction, etc). There were a few times during our double/triple checks we discovered we had something incorrect. All that said, after we were finished it worked perfectly and had a very satisfying “tick-tock” sound while running, it’s very mesmerizing and we’re very happy having it in our living room. Was such a fun project for him and I over some drinks and food during a “shutting I out the world” weekend. We’ll be getting another puzzle from them in the next couple weeks for another project.

Beautiful kit that we were never able to make work
My daughter had a good time putting this together — it was a fun kit. But we were never able to get the mechanical pendulum (the coolest part) work consistently. It is correctly assembled, and the battery-powered quartz clock works, but the mechanical mechanism won't work for more than a few minutes. My guess is that trying to replicate a precision metal mechanical mechanism with laser cut plywood is just not possible. It does look cool even not exactly working, and like I said, the quartz clock keeps time. Unfortunately, the coolest part is the back, so you can either know what time it is, or look at the cool owl/gears side.
