The guiro is my favorite musician’s favorite Latin music instrument. She loved this item as a surprise gift. Great volume. Sturdy. Not a bad price for this level of quality.If you need projection and the possibility of outrageous volume, then this metal guiro is an excellent choice. If you need or desire a sound that is a bit more organic, then search-out a good quality wooden, or natural product, rhythm instrument. There is no shame in going old school.I awarded Four Stars, because Four and Three Quarters Stars is not an option. It did not receive the maximum because of any defect. Rather, this item may not be able to meet your needs, especially if you require a less metallic attack. This item is a must in any percussionist’s arsenal of instruments. Because, sooner or later, some yo-yo is gonna drown-out any subtle rhythms with their instrument’s volume. Yes, this sucker can get plenty loud, even before pumping it through the PA.

The Guiro Shaker feels like it's of really good quality, but unfortunately, it didn't come with the shaker so we had limited use of it at the party.
