Cute and Whimsical
If you enjoyed Nanny McPhee, The Series of Unfortunate Events, or The Mysterious Benedict Society, you will want to read this series. It actually kept me guessing for quite a while.

Penelope's life first ravels, then unravels, with startling speed
I've been waiting for this book! So happy to finally get it, so sad to finish it, knowing #6 was not available yet. The mystery begins to reveal itself at last, as Penelope's life first ravels, then unravels, with startling speed. All the major players come into play, and several - for instance, Lady Constance Ashton - begin to take on true lives of their own. Characters are much more fully drawn, and the addition of new players - plus new revelations - is very welcome. A good read, a terrific series.Five stars because I would read the series again from the beginning, quite happily.

Genius! These books keep on getting better and better.
Wow. MaryRose Wood outdid herself in this book, and we adored the other books....we eagerly awaited this book for months, and it was totally worth the wait! We can hardly wait for the 6th book. The author is a master at humor and wit and suspense and unexpected plot twists. What we really loved was the chapter near the end (don’t worry I won’t ruin it) tied up every single one of the lose threads from the previous 4 books....we sat there mesmerized at her skill!

These are getting scary!
Although I am far beyond the targeted age group for these books, I have enjoyed reading the continuing saga of the Incorrigible Children. The stories are well crafted, have lots of educational bon mots thrown in as well as general good rules to live by.The Unmapped Sea ...( I don't know what that title has to do with the story except they were at the beach)...has ramped up the creepy level and seems much scarier and darker than the first four books. I was very sure this would be the end of the tale and the tails, but readers rejoice, there will be more. This edition leaves our heroine in the lurch, so the author better get typing and get the next installment ready. My nervous system can't stand the strain!

Crowd pleaser in our family!
Such a good series! This is a crowd pleaser, for sure. Kids ages 5-14 are enjoying this series, and mom is listening to the audiobooks for fun as well! So cleverly written, great story lines, and so much to love!

I love all of these books
I love all of these books. I am disappointed in the change of illustration I will say, but the reason I was attached to the illustrations in the first place was because MaryRoseWood has made me fall in love with the characters. She has introduced some new characters in this book and the tone has changed a bit. The feel is more overt, not the same deliciousness of suspense but a good read none-the-less.

a most excellent read
This series was beautifully written. The characters were well developed and relatable. The bits of pithy wisdom strewn throughout the pages are infinitely quotable and often hilarious. I very seldom re-read books, but I plan to re-read these the whole way through once the last is finally published!

Fantastic mystery book, great vocabulary builder, read the books in sequence - yum!
This series is just fabulous - the mysteries build unfold and new ones begin. It's set in England in the time of Queen Victoria, but continuously references the modern day, makes linkages with Language, Art the whole works. This is an awesome writer - start from the first book and work your way through. I want to know all the secrets, but I also want another book - I am conflicted. We read this for bedtime stories and it's only the fear of losing my voice that makes me stop reading to the children after an hour!

Wunderbare Fortsetzung
