I bought this item because I wanted to know outside temps during an upcoming prospecting and photography trip out west. The wire prob was very short and the temperature was inaccurate. I emailed the company, GateShop, the following:"Unit kept going off and when on would give mumbled displays. I found that one of the batteries would not seat properly due to a metal prong. Got the battery seated, worked ok. But display *extremely* dim on both red and blue backlight settings; photo of product on Amazon is very deceiving. Exterior or interior temp display is either one or the other... can't display both, nor alternate between the two without going through the settings. The product page does not state this, and gives the consumer the impression that it either displays both inside and outside temps at the same time or would alternate between the two. Temperature off anywhere between +8 to +12 degrees while sensor wire (which is not all that long by the way) was fully extended and placed under a non-running vehicle."I had to get Amazon involved as GateShop was not responding to me. After 29 days I got a reply that said:"I am really sorry the unit was fault due to rough handling of postie. However you can send it back for replacement or full refund on."GateShop tried to pass the defective item off as a fault of the USPS. Poor accountability! Very inferior product, and you DO get what you pay for. I'll never deal with GateShop for anything ever again. Due to my trip preparations I never did send it back for a refund. Business loss.

First of all, the device is way too big to fit or look nice at any place in my car's dash. It is almost as large as a samsung galaxy cel phone and as thick as a remote controler... is way bulky... also it has some really dumb functions, for example you cannot switch from indoor temp to outdoor temp with any button, the device will show only one at time, so to change from in to out you need to enter in the setting mode to ask the device to show one or another but that is it.. you cannot check both at the touch of a button or anything.. also, pretty dumb thing is that it has a C/F button to swtich between C to F anc viceversa, function that the set button does as well so I just don't get it.. I either use C or F I am not supposed to be switching among them all the time (option that I would love to have available for the in and out temp) Rest of functions seem fine so far such as weather forecasting and humidity, not sure about the alarm.. (what for in a car) and also the little flap it has to attach the device seems really small for such a bulky thing, I feel it will break after a while. At this point I am not sure where I will place it since the location I had in mind will not work since it is wat 2 big. I don't think this will ever look nice in my dash but trashy..

The instructions and button combinations to setup the display are mystifying. The backlight stopped working before I could get the product installed. The unit resets every few minutes. I spent some time to run the sensor wire behind the dash to the front door jam, but after the issues above I cut the sensor out and trashed the whole unit. Don't waste your time.

I still have this sitting in my glove box. I should have returned it. The display doesn't have enough brightness to be readable unless you are looking at it straight on. Any side angle viewing is terrible. I know it was cheapo but it just won't work for me.

Not what I was expecting.The voltage is not working on it to show the V for the car.Display is very dim.I have ordered a different brand.This product is not worth the price of 15.99Disappointed with the product

It came without batteries. I'm disinclined to buy batteries for a new unit, but I couldn't if I had wanted to since there was no indication as to what size the batteries should be.🎶"Return To Sender"🎶
