Great multi-purpose psuedo cushioning shoe, neutral runners looking for a little more cushion will love them
This shoe fits in between a minimalist and maximalist shoe, those who want to feel everything on the road or float above it should look elsewhere. These are not Vibrams or Hoka's they are for the neutral runner looking for a good balance between the two. I took these out of the box and ran the trails in my neighborhood, they were a little narrow in the beginning but felt great after 10 miles. The toe box is nice and roomy but not so much that you feel you could slip around inside the shoe. On hard pack you can still feel a bit of the terrain which is good in my opinion giving you a good balance of cushion and protection. This shoe excels at going down hill, I think its a combination of the exceptional grip and heel cushioning, I could run downhill very fast while feeling secure and not worried about beating up my body too much. The construction is top notch with stitched reinforced fabric in high wear areas on the top complemented with welded overlays everywhere else. The shoe will probably take sometime to break in, compared to my Brooks Ghost 6 which were perfect out of the box. The outsole has excellent traction on both dirt, rock, gravel, concrete and asphalt, it is truly multi-purpose. The sole has 2 rubber densities which are strategically placed for maximum traction and wear. I give em 5 stars for value, fit and durability

Great shoes all around for walking or jogging. Great arch support for people with planter fasciitis.
I have planter fasciitis and only a few brands work for me. Montrail is one of them. I have been using the mountain Masochist for a while now and wanted to give these shoes a try. I am glad I did. They fit perfectly and hug my shoes all around. Gives me enough support and corrects pronation. I can wear them all day long and walk for miles without hurting. They are lightweight but still have good outsoles that protect your feet in almost any terrains. I love the reflective coating on the sides and back that keeps me safe while running in low light conditions. I also like the little tab at the back where I can stick my finger into to help slide in these shoes.

Overall a good shoe
I do like these. However, they are a little narrow in the toe box. Length is good and the width of the heal is good. They provide great support for the overall foot, in particular the arch. Since they are a slight bit small in the toe wearing them for extended periods has caused some minor foot fatigue for me.

get them while you can
Sorry to see montrail discontinue this model, as I find it well cushioned and supportive, without being too "motion controlling". Also the 8mm drop helps with a very natural, rolling stride. Would have liked to have seen a version 2!

Good for work
I'm a large guy that has knee issues and get sore ankles so I'll say it is really comfortable but some of the traction came out. I use it for it work mainly. I've used it for over a month and my knee problems went away and my ankles don't swell. I love these shoes. I only rate it a 4-star because the style design could've been better and the piece of traction coming out. Otherwise great shoe

One Star
Parts of the sole came off just in everyday activities. Ordered another pair and the same thing happened.
