Given the uncertain reviews, I felt I was taking a gamble. Nothing could be further from the truth. This is a simple, well-constructed unit. While it's certainly possible that someone with no finesse or familiarity with things mechanical could manhandle and break this, I found it simple and easy to use.Paired with the Red Moose Stretcher, it did a great job.I dreaded the prospect of losing my beloved boots, and didn't want to spend hundreds replacing, or handing them off to a shoe repairman that I had no confidence in. My boots sat in backstock, while my feet got old and changed, enough that I couldn't even get them on. They now glide on with no suffering of their structural integrity, or my feet.If you're methodical, patient, and have any sense of how things work, you'll value this item as much as I do.I'm grateful to have it. My son got me a new pair of boots. Expensive ones that are well made and sturdy. They hurt and were hard to get one. I got the stretcher to help with the break-in. Problem is these are a little small for 12 boots. Solves the problem by taking their shoe stretcher which was bigger in size than these and swapping out the yellow parts. The parts are bigger and are what does the actual stretching. After that they worked great. Switching the parts is super easy, but if you don't already have a shoe stretcher, you end up buying more. After the change, things worked great.

I can make each shoe the right width.No need to torture my bunion on the right foot. Just pop this in and spray shoe woth alcohol and let it sit till dry. Test size and go from there.

In the process of stretching the arch on a pair of western boots. Easier than pulling the one tight boot on and wearing to stretch. Zero instructions which will be a problem for a lot of users. If you anticipate using a stretcher on many shoes or with a variety challenges the more expensive higher grade stretchers would be worth the greater expense. Once again, you get what you pay for. Not many options, pretty primitive construction but meets my needs.

The stretcher slides out of place as it’s opened, rather than actually stretching the leather. It slides back towards the heal as the rod is turned.

I read many reviews of people saying: this sucks, cheap slips out of place. Yes if your trying to stretch a super thick and large in foot size work boot or something steel toed it will not work. I personally (male size 10.5) had a pair of Abilene round toe cowboy boots, for the record I never buy because of this issue but they looked too good lol, that were way to tight in the toe box. Not only did I have to stretch the leather but the rigid fabric that lines the inside of the toe box. First off I superglued some 36 grit sandpaper up by the top edge to help hold the expander in place. I sprayed the inside of the boot with a 3 part mix, paint thinner, boot oil, and hot water and concentrated on the areas I needed to stretch. I plugged the black adaptors in place where my toe was rubbing. Cranked 7 times let sit for 8 hours. Boom perfect!

I had a cheap pair of boots that I got at costco and while they did fit, I have a really high arch and they were hurting my feet so much to where they would go numb. I put this into them one at a time over 2 days and the pain was no more! I have had to redo the process every other month or so but its nice to not have wasted the boots. Good thing to have around. Could be more durable and easier to use.

I had a pair of shoes I wasn’t able to wear because it was uncomfortable. It took a few tries at stretching, but it worked 👏👏👏

I have a size 13 leather boot and I think any bigger, I'd be tattooed. In 24 hours it was stretched to my liking.Good product and the price is right!

and it does not expand enough to stretch unless you have small feet, useless purchase

As I needed to get orthotics, a couple of my pairs of boots became too tight at the vamp. This product worked perfectly to stretch them out making them comfortable again.
