Adorable, detailed projects!
I got this for my mom, along with a collection of other things for her to start off on her felting journey. I debated between this book and several others, and I'm extremely glad to have chosen this one. It has a great variety of projects to make, from black Labs to chickens to slugs to unicorns - but our favorite is the Wind in the Willows collection! You can make Mole, Rat, and Mr. Toad. They even included a picture of all three finished products sitting down to tea. Adorable!! While my mom isn't quite to this skill level yet, it's given her goals to reach and is ready to provide her hilarious, detailed, and adorable projects to undertake when she's confident enough. I don't think she passed by a single picture without saying, "I'm making that!"

Itโs ok.
Iโm not sure on this?! I have lots of books. It surprised me that the projects werenโt as polished as I had hoped for. I also do not felt with glue. I try to keep it as natural as possible aside from accessories like acorn hats and what not. This just seemed a little off track from what I was hoping. I am not sure itโs worth the higher price. Had it been $10 bucks I donโt think Iโd mind too much. The projects are still cute. Just maybe more for a beginner and somebody who doesnโt mind someshortcuts?

Wonderful Instructions for Needle Felting Animals
This is a terrific guide for beginners and experienced needle felters who like felting animals. The first portion of the book includes detailed instruction on shapes-- very helpful. How to add legs, arms, faces, etc. with pictures to show what things should look like. The multiple pages of all types of little animals are colorful and fairly easy to make. Each figure is identified as easy, medium, or more challenging to make-- I think anyone would love having this book and enjoy making the figures.

OK, but not all that.
I've got to say - I expected something more from the other reviews. The book is OK. I was hoping for more realistic animals and techniques. The cover chicken should have told me - these are kinda-sorta cutsie animals, not realistic ones. For example, I'd love to find out how they make those hedge hogs (seen on the internet, not here) - that look like they have real spines. The one in this book has fur. So it's a what - hairy mouse? Mr. Mole looks like a platypus more than a mole. If you're not a purist and don't mind short cuts like using store-bought felt for the hard-to-create bits, this book may be just the ticket. The figures they dressed up with tiny cloth clothing are cute, though.

I love this book!
This book is a great resource for needle felters. Very informative regarding techniques, color, tools, basic forms. My middle school students fight over who gets to use it. The book has helped launch many young new needle felters.

Lovely book
I saw Steffi or possibly Sophie on one of the craft channels - either create and craft or hochanda, can't remember which - and she was brilliant. She demonstrated a couple of the animals from the book and made it look so easy. She also promised that the books would contain equally good instructions. Well I wasn't disappointed. There are instructions for all sorts of animals, from a unicorn to a garden slug. Some wind in the willows characters along with the usual badger, fox and squirrels. The pets section is lovely too. Everything is explained really well, loads of pictures and it all looks very achievable. Mind you, I haven't tried any yet ......

A helpful book
I liked the projects in this book, clearly illustrated and informed of a variety of techniques, just one step away from 'starter projects' with harder projects then previously tried, but not too hard to put a beginner off. The projects were indicated with degree of hardness so working from that it's a good book to progress in the skills area. Not a huge amount of projects in this book, but enough to give a variety of experience of needle felting, I'd recommend it.

Lovely book with clear instructions, must have
One of the best books available for needle felters. Eventhough I have two left thumbs I manage to easily follow the instructions and utilise the shapes and tips to create other creatures too. The animals are so cute and there are loads to choose from. I like to just flick through the book at times and close it down full of inspiration.A definite wanna-have for every new and experienced felter.I bought this book and Making simple needle felts by the same authors at the same time and am very happy I did.The book is quite thick and of good quality too, and the instructions come with lovely pictures illustrated. Great value for money.

Very useful book...
Good book; describes step by step how to make 20 animals. Needless to say, everyone who crafts felted animals will interpret their own styles and with some artistic licence, as it should be.The list of what is required to start felting, is fully comprehensive. The principle technical advice, is important and contains helpful, clear, pictorial guides. This little book is worth every penny, the cost of about four cappuccinos but it will last much longer, is more fun and giving.
