This is an adorable well made Mah Jong set. The back of the tiles are the same bone color as the front. I was pleasantly surprised when I received it. The pieces are smooth and perfectly flat and stand well on their own. The set comes with 4 plastic bars to use to push the pieces when forming the walls and can also be used to hold the playing pieces. Each bar holds 18 pieces. The characters on the face of each tile look exactly like a regular size tile except the paint may blur the characters a little but totally still legible. The only thing I am worried about is loosing the very tiny playing pieces so I suggest you always play on a tray to keep the pieces on the table. My husband is 6'2" and he doesn't like that they are so small because he has a hard time seeing them and his hands are bigger plus he says they have a funny smell but a lot of MJ sets have a funny smell. I think it's adorable and my children think it's neat. The plastic box that it comes in is just that, a soft clear plastic box, but everything fits in the box easily. You may want to get a sturdier box if you are going to be carrying it around a lot.

Mah jong, probably one of the oldest and most played games in the history of mankind, was designed so long ago, nobody cared about how heavy the playing pieces were.But this is 2010 and we care. This little set fits the bill. It is lightweight, the tiles are clearly marked and well made.It all fits in a wonderful case. Just perfect.The price is right, the travel mah jong set is perfect.

This set is exactly what it looks like. A very small plastic 144-tile Chinese-style mahjong set, with all the listed accessories (and no others) in a thin plastic case. The tiles are thick enough to stand up on end or use with racks, the whole game can be set up on a cafeteria tray, and the set weighs as much as a paperback. Not for the serious enthusiast who can set up games at home, but great for mahjong on the go.

I'm new to MahJong, but travel a lot and I really like this tiny set. It fits within weight/space allowances. The reverse is, of course, that the tiles are tiny and so you need dexterity and good eyesight. Yes, I'd buy it again, though if I were looking for a starter set for a stable situation I might go the money for something larger.
