a usual fairy tale with a twist of vampire diaries
We all heard about a king Who turns everything to gold he touches but this comes with twist and turns like Damon and Elena. Do read this with patience. Itâs a base plot but will help you in your sequels.

Ok-ok
it Has been used before I can confirm that as I can see the little ink removed by a continuous Rub Of something like say a bookmark and the sides of the sheet are kind of bent and are dirty with stains

Very engrossing!
Really loved the series. Itâs a brilliantly new take on the king Midas legend and starts with a very atypical protagonist. As situations unfold, she finds herself questioning everything sheâs come to believe about herself and her life. Iâve read the first two books back to back and canât wait for the third to release! Definitely pick this up if you love fantasy and intrigue

loved this book! cannot wait to get to the next books
Okay this book started a little slow. I kinda got the feeling that the stage was being set for the story to unfold. And I was okay with it. I took my time understanding the world that Raven Kennedy (ilovehername) was building and once the stage was set, the book got better. Especially towards the end and I feel like that happened with every book in this series. In the second half, things would get so interesting that it would be so hard to put it down for even a second. I gave it 3 stars because it was average until towards the end when I honestly couldnât get enough of it. I was super excited to finish it and pick up the next book. For all those doubting this book, just give this series a chance because this series is awesome and hard to get over.

Compelling, intriguing and fascinating read
Oh wow wow! Why the hell did I take so long to read this series? Itâs fantastic, amazing, a page-turner and unputdownable!A kind of retelling of King Midas but with a twist! King Midas with a golden touch. Auren is the King's pet, his precious - gold touched by the King himself. Aurenâs skin, her hair, her nails everything is gold coated. She is the prized possession of the King who keeps her locked in a gold cage where no one is allowed to touch her except the King. She is caged for almost 10 years and blindly believes in King Midas. She believes he loves her and truly cares for her. After all, he was the only one who saved her when she was a child. And so she blindly believes him and loves him even though he marries another woman and openly makes love to other women (saddles) in front of her. However, as the story progresses there are certain events that occur which make her doubt the king and make her realise everything she believed about Midas might just be wrong.Auren is one hell of a character. She is kind, caring, brave and has a sense of humour. As a child, Auren suffered a lot and she was also sex trafficked. She was rescued from such a deplorable environment by King Midas and hence she is in kind of awe of him and suffers from Stockholm Syndrome. I loved the way Raven has portrayed her mental struggle and the way she narrates what she is going through and how she struggles with loneliness. I did love to see that glimpse of anger and defiance which clearly showed there is much more to Auren than what meets the eye!I believe this book was just kind of a background setter for the next books in the series and I just canât wait to read what happens next. This series is dark with strong hard-hitting scenes, mind you.Compelling, intriguing and fascinating read! I loved it.

Excellent first entry to one of my fave series of all time!
Rating: 4.6/5 âSpice Level: 2.75/5Tropes/CW: Dark Fantasy Romance, Retelling (King Midas), Single POV, Abuse, SA, Kidnapping, Imprisonment, Misogyny, Single POVI've read this 3 times (so far), and each time I'm blown away. This is quickly becoming one of my favorite series of all time (reserving final judgment until the final book comes out). The worldbuilding, the writing, the pacing, the twists and turns are just *chef's kiss*This series does have quite a bit of abuse and trauma in it. So please read the trigger warnings before starting it just in case. I don't find the dark content to be gratuitous though, and it's well-handled and adds to the story and characters. Auren in particular experiences the majority of the abuse as the FMC and boy does she go through it.Auren is the favored, gold-touched "saddle" (a concubine with metallic gold skin/hair) for King Midas, the ruler of the 6th Kingdom, who keeps her in a golden cage that is strategically expanded throughout portions of the castle. He keeps her literally under lock and key, parading her about as needed for political purposes and as a demonstration of his power (turning things to gold).Midas has his sights set on ruling more than just 6th Kingdom and ultimately ends up needing to head for 5th kingdom, later sending for Auren and the rest of this saddles (concubines). This leads to a series of unfortunate and fortunate events that puts Auren on a journey of self-discovery and growth. The writing is phenomenal and portrays the mental side of abuse in a respectful and gritty way. There were several moments throughout where I literally stopped and said "damn, that's brilliant." The characters are all extremely well developed, even the bad guys and multiple morally gray characters. There are very explicit scenes (including the literally beginning of the book), so keep that in mind as well.If you like dark fantasy and fairy tale retellings with some unique twists and beautiful writing, please give this one a shot (while considering the trigger warnings)

Good
I think it is a good book, there is a special scene that is very cruel but apart from that it is more like a world building story for the rest of the books.
