I’ve been an amateur bonsai artist for 15 years now and heard about Hello Bonsai from one of my mentors. Growing, styling, training, and maintaining bonsai is a skill that needs to be acquired. Yet, the basics are pretty straightforward. There are specific watering, cleaning, and maintenance techniques. It’s also important to prepare a general calendar of care, which you’ll need to follow throughout the year. One of the most important aspects is regular feeding with the correct fertilizer. Bonsai need a regular input of nutrients to thrive for the simple reason that the growing bonsai removes them from the soil and water leaches them away. While I wouldn’t use Hello Bonsai to the exclusion of a 6:12:10 fertilizer (my preferred NPK for bonsai), I’ve noticed that my younger bonsais respond well to compost and worms teas. Just like other trees, bonsai need microbes to thrive. I’m pleased with Hello Bonsai and recommend it to any aspiring bonsai artists.
