Perfect for purpose
Wow, I ordered this storage box yesterday and it arrived today!! It is sturdy, a good size and great value for money. I have filled it with all my reels of thread and still have room for more. Now I know where all my threads are and won't spill them as I try to get to them. This is perfect for my needs and will last for a very long time. Highly recommend for people who sew; thanks Sew & So

Great thread storage.
This is a great storage for your cottons, holds lots and keeps them far enough apart to still be able to see colours clearly. If i were to suggest a minor design tweak, it would be to make the box, and the posts, 6mm or so deeper so matching machine bobbins you have wound can be stored on same post as main spool. Its ok with older style spools, the short fat type, but more modern gutermann, coats moon, etc are too tall to add the bobbin as well. However, this is NOT a complaint, only a suggestion. The box is sturdy, well made, the clips feel secure and like the will last, and being able to life the racks out is useful too. Highly recommend!

spacing and length
I have been looking for a storage solution for my spools and matching bobbins. I wanted something that I could seal up....the usual pronged stands either hang on the wall or take up desk space and I did not want either of these options. This seemed to match what I wanted. And to a large extent it does.It seals firmly and I can put it on its side without the spools/bobbins falling out. If you place it with handle at the top, the base is designed so it stands upright and not at an angle. The catch and handle is a different colour (greyish beige) than the translucent white plastic of the rest. The two trays with prongs are removable and white in colour....the material is more brittle than the rest. There are 5 rows of prongs in each tray...with the middle row of each being off-set from the other 4 rows.Do the spools fit?......Yes and no.....if you have thread spool huggers...then no you have to leave spaces between spools. Are the prongs long enough to have spool and bobbin on the same prong?...No, if you put the bobbin on first, then the spool and bobbin is too high and the lid won't close. If you put the spool on first, the prong does not extend over the spool. So either way, the bobbin has to sit next to the spool on its own prong. This means that the box can't be accidentally inverted....when it's upside down, mostly the spools stay put but the bobbins don't.Will I return it?.....No, it does most of what I want for this set of outlining threads. Will I buy another?...No, when I tried it with my Gutterman threads, the niggles were still there. For it to work more effectively it needs to have longer prongs with a consequently slightly deeper depth to the box and it needs to have a larger spacing of prongs, so larger spools/spools with thread huggers can be accomodated. All in all, it's designed by someone who does not sew and who did try to fit the design brief.....but just missed enough to irritate.

Sewing Machine Thread Storage
Can accommodate Gutermann 100m, 250m and 800m if you are prepared to give up a couple of prongs surrounding the cone - I also store my ready filled singer bobbins next to the threads - you can get 3 to 4 per prong. It's not overly sturdy but if you treat it carefully it should last you a good few years. It allows you to easily see each coloured thread. A tip. I thought this would enable me to organise all my stash. WRONG ! I need another one.

excellent puchase
Received this very quickly and I am delighted with it as I can see all my threads and it keeps them tidy.If I could have taken off half a star I would have, as the label on the lid was very sticky and difficult to remove. I wanted to see my threads and not who made the case. I know there are products to remove sticky labels but would have had to wait until I bought them. It is also possible for the manufacturer to put the label inside on a piece of card which I would have kept.I would buy another one as the case is strong and excellent value. The above about the label is only a small issue for me.

Excellent purchase
this is an excellent box. For years I've had all my threads (yes there are lots of them) just jumbled up in a large tin. Ends of threads were all tangled up (how they manage to uncoil themselves is beyond me) and I could never tell what colours I'd got - so I always went and bought more for the current project. This box is going to revolutionise my sewing - it provides order where it was definitely needed - what a brilliant, yet simple idea. You can clearly see all your colours, and how much you have left of each - even without opening the sturdy box as you can see through the lid!!!All I need is another one to store my larger cones for the overlocker in.
